Need help please. Shift isn't connecting in game.
I bought BL3 when it came out on Steam. I don't think I've ever been online. It wasn't until the science event in Tanniss place that i realized it. I didn't have the arcade game in the corner they talked about. After more days and more research, it turns out i havent been getting any event or any of the hotfixes to the game because my game has never connected online in the game.

I have linked my steam account with shift. I have an internet connection and it does work. Every aspect of my internet works.

When I go into my social tab in BL3 and then to the Shift tab it says im offline. I click on the "Go Online" button and it doesnt even try to connect. It instantly says "all active players must be connected to Gearbox Software Shift"

I've looked on the internet, i sent a ticket to shift (no response yet), there are older posts where people are saying servers are down but those are a month old. ive looked for hours because i feel cheated that im not getting these cool items during these events.

If anyone knows how to fix this, i beg you please let me know.

Are you able to access the Shift website? https://shift.gearboxsoftware.com/home I get disconnected from my friends' games whenever I lose connection to Shift, and today I discovered their website is also incredibly slow to load when that happens. Maybe there's a jump somewhere between you and the Shift servers that's introducing just enough lag to interrupt sign-in attempts.

Maybe try a VPN to see if it'll bypass that and let you log in.
I can connect to Shift website. I havent tried a VPN. I'm not trying to play with other people though, im just trying to get all the events that are happening. I'm not sure if a VPN would help with that.

The weird thing is, is when i'm in BL3, i go to the shift tab under social, when i click on connect, its doesn't even think about it. There is no waiting or anything. It pops up immediately saying cant connect. I might look into the VPN thing though.

Hm, if you have no problems accessing the site, I kinda doubt a VPN will help.

I vaguely remember having some trouble signing into Shift when I first started (I don't think I even have an account), I believe the solution to that was to go into the Social screen, click the Shift tab (it should also have the whole "you need to go online for this feature" thing), click the Account Details sub-tab, and I think you can link your Steam account to Shift from there.
same here SHIFT isn't connecting, pleaseee gearbox fix ur ♥♥♥♥. this is the only game i have net issues with, i can't coop or matchmake at allll. You'd think a 6 month old game would be launched at a playable state, but i hvn't been able to play coop AT ALL after 1 month since launch, if i do get a game it's a 500 ++ ping game.even tried playing with my bro in shanghai and got 30,000 ping. This is the only game that i have that has such pooorr net issues. Sorry for the rant but after a month its still like this, i'm frustrated.

@Bishop I tried what you said but my game is broke i think. When I click on the Account Details nothing happens. Something kind of flickers like a window was trying to pop up or something but thats it. I might try to unlink my account and then try that. Thanks.

@PJ I'm so frusterated as well, definitly rant worthy. I haven't been able to enjoy the fruits of the events theyve been having. My brother was telling me about all these loot tinks running around dropping tons of legendary gear. It hurts.
When you click on this button (the highlighted yellow one), be sure to not be on LAN or Local mode
Only the first 3 are Online

If it still doesnt work, be sure your firewall isnt denying BL3 access to the internet
Whenever i click on anything other than lan or local play, it tells me the same message,"all active player must be connected to gearbox software shift'.

I've tried so many things that other people have tried. There was a thing where you had to allow lsass.exe through the firewall. there was another that said to dump you dns cache or something to that effect. I've tried so many things. im so darn frusterated with it.
I see no incentives to resolving Shift connection problems. I could care less about ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ golden keys or any other gedunk. I just want to play.
Having the exact same problem as OP, I just want the hotfixes to be applied ffs. When I had the game on epic it applied them no problem but on steam it hasn't done it once.
It's been this way on my system for about a month... I have sad internet, but I still think it'd be able to grab the hotfix. I receive my golden keys, but Hotfix won't go through. Switching on the online playstyles results in the immediate error. It's not even trying to connect at that point.

Edit: To clarify I have to submit the SHIFT codes through the website. Then they are available in the game. I can not submit them in the game.

@Prez Monkey I had to do they same thing to get my keys. Its weird we can get our keys but not connect online. I mean, its sending us the keys through the internet for crying out loud. I'm basically done with BL3 until the next DLC. Iv'e had fun and Ive beat it like 5 times, but to miss out on the extra stuff is s HUGE bummer.

Same problem here also, have bought the game on Epic Store and Steam both wont connect to SHiFt ingame...
Maybe a little late to post a reply, but I am having the same issue now. I did not have this issue a week ago. It would log me right into the gear shift software. and I could find matches. But now it won't let me. I've tried my VPN, resetting network settings, well just about everything short of reinstalling. But not sure if that would do anything...Don't see why it would.
i had this problem along with the crashing bug
no matter what i tried inside the game it wouldnt allow the connection
but i quit and restarted the game and it worked again
Yeah, my wife and I spent about 10 hours trying everything we found on the internet about it. I got a response from Shift and they had me do a bunch of troubleshooting steps. None worked. Then they wanted to know internet speeds and the such. I'm on satellite internet and i know they'll say thats the problem. Thing is, i have 2 friends with sat. internet and they get the updates just fine. Anyway, thanks for all the help everyone. Game on.
