2 days playing...

First crashes happened on Pandora when I tried to go into Ascension Bluff the first time. The game would just crash if I tried transitioning into Ascension Bluff, but I could go back if I wanted. Validated my install, and needed to update 478MB to proceed. Fixed.

Next set of crashes happened when I tried to go to the second area on Promethea for the first time. Now this time around, the game continued to crash before I could get to the Main Menu. Revalidated the install while I went to bed, so I did not see how much needed updating, but it fixed it again (and getting annoyed).

Now, I just finished my side mission for "Kill Killavolt", went back to Sanctuary to dump some stuff, buy upgrades, and fast travelled to Promethea to begin "Maliwannabees", and I crashed as the travel began. Also, I'm crashing everytime I restart the game (before the main menu is shown). Revalidated, for the third friggin time in 2 days, and now as I write this I have to update 1.4GB!

WTF!

I am spec'd out, no issues with my PC. I run every game at max graphics with zero lag, across three monitors, and never have issues. This game has given me more issues than a PS2 DDR dance mat.

The messed up part is, I am playing online with my friend (both of us on Steam), and he joins my game, but only I have ever crashed between the two of us, and my specs are better than his.

Once this update is done, I'm connecting to his game, and I'm gonna see if/when I crash again. What I really don't get, is after 2 validations, I am now updating a whopping 1.4GB of game data. How could my game be that out of whack so quickly after a validation? I only have 13 hours of gameplay...

For me its a problem with freezing guns. When im playing with my frozen anarchy the game crashes after 15 to 20 minutes. Without freezing weapons it just runs well. Some say it can be fixed by switching from directx 11 to 12. But i havent tested that yet.

My spec i58400 16 gb ddr4 ram and gtx 1070. So this shouldnt be a problem

Fixed my random crashes by locking the framerate to 60. No other settings needed to be changed.

in my case i only stopped crashing after downloading process lasso and disabling hyperthreading for the game. my cpu is i7-3770k and the game doesnt like my virtual cores
there are some other bugs concerning mayhem mods

I'm not one of the config/ini divers at all so mind to explain what strange there is or what to look out for? Really curious now.

Have similar problem, changed to DX12 and is slightly better even if it could be placebo.
Strangly enough it mostly crashes when I'm in the menus or idle.
I suspect it's gearbox anti-pirate or something similar. In DX12 I have had some extreme slowdowns like it wants to crash because it lost connection to the servers.

I7 7700K no OC
Gtx 1080 no OC

its near blank and only contains the "paths" section. in other words the game is not truly "for" PC yet and a lot will be broken for many. should become an ini diver if want your games to work.
I see, there really are only paths in the Engine.ini but a whole lot settings (game and graphics related) in the GameUserSettings.ini and I remember that it was this way for all other Borderlands games, at least Borderlands 1 as I removec the black border for the "cellshading" effect.

On the other hand, the other Borderlands games used a different engine?
Really don't know, the only config diving/optimization I ever did was back in my Day of Defeat 1.3 days and a few years ago with Ark (which still runs kind of bad after all this time) so...yeah...

theres currently 2,184 lines in BL2's ini and 2,443 in pre-sequel. im using them and several others to write my own engine.ini for BL3, also how i know the answer to everyones problem. if they only have 37 lines pertaining to paths in theirs, and if so, game is NOT, running in 64bit, using all your cores, memory, or ssd properly.
Thanks for the explanation :)

having many many crashes and it isn't my specs i have played and finished the game and have had random moments where the game just doesn't work for example yesterday i played for the day and it was perfectly fine with default settings but today the game crashes the minuet i load into the game the game is still fun but this is annoying (i don't know if i have actually finished the game i just killed/defeated the calypsos and my game hasn't been working since) one time the game crashed my character even when't corrupt but i managed to fix it i honestly don't think this has anything to do with specs or game settings for example high graphics i think its just a bunch of bad luck and uncompleted testing
