First crashes happened on Pandora when I tried to go into Ascension Bluff the first time. The game would just crash if I tried transitioning into Ascension Bluff, but I could go back if I wanted. Validated my install, and needed to update 478MB to proceed. Fixed.
Next set of crashes happened when I tried to go to the second area on Promethea for the first time. Now this time around, the game continued to crash before I could get to the Main Menu. Revalidated the install while I went to bed, so I did not see how much needed updating, but it fixed it again (and getting annoyed).
Now, I just finished my side mission for "Kill Killavolt", went back to Sanctuary to dump some stuff, buy upgrades, and fast travelled to Promethea to begin "Maliwannabees", and I crashed as the travel began. Also, I'm crashing everytime I restart the game (before the main menu is shown). Revalidated, for the third friggin time in 2 days, and now as I write this I have to update 1.4GB!
WTF!
I am spec'd out, no issues with my PC. I run every game at max graphics with zero lag, across three monitors, and never have issues. This game has given me more issues than a PS2 DDR dance mat.
The messed up part is, I am playing online with my friend (both of us on Steam), and he joins my game, but only I have ever crashed between the two of us, and my specs are better than his.
Once this update is done, I'm connecting to his game, and I'm gonna see if/when I crash again. What I really don't get, is after 2 validations, I am now updating a whopping 1.4GB of game data. How could my game be that out of whack so quickly after a validation? I only have 13 hours of gameplay...
there are some other bugs concerning mayhem mods
it has to be something else on your system I played it on a i7 2600k with HT on before I got my ryzen setup without a problem
Strangly enough it mostly crashes when I'm in the menus or idle.
I suspect it's gearbox anti-pirate or something similar. In DX12 I have had some extreme slowdowns like it wants to crash because it lost connection to the servers.
I7 7700K no OC
Gtx 1080 no OC
On the other hand, the other Borderlands games used a different engine?
Really don't know, the only config diving/optimization I ever did was back in my Day of Defeat 1.3 days and a few years ago with Ark (which still runs kind of bad after all this time) so...yeah...
