Dedicated melee character
Do you think they might eventually add a dedicated melee character to the game?

I'm having a lot less fun without one. I tried to play as the Siren messing around with her melee build but it just wasn't the same, and I found her personality deeply boring which is also disappointing since I enjoy playing a character with a personality I can enjoy. I miss having a Krieg to just tank and wreck things with his melee. I miss the way that the things he said and did made the game so more sporadic and interesting. I yearn deeply for that playstyle but can't seem to find the itch I want to scratch. Is there other characters besides the siren with a melee build, and is it any better than hers? What do I do if I want somewhat of a Krieg-esque experience? Do you think the build I want to play as might be added to the game later on since Krieg himself was a dlc? It seems like every game besides this one had at least one character that was great with melee. Brick was fun for that tanky punch things melee, Lilith was fine for the more stealthy melee attacks as was Zer0, Krieg was a melee king, and even in the presequel Athena had some pretty good melee moves despite not liking her character much, and if I was lucky I could get meat unicycle as claptrap. I'm pretty bored with the lackluster melee so far. The gunplay was never really what got me into borderlands so it's hard for me to deal with it being the main thing expected of me in BL3.

Could use some advice on other skill trees that might help my scratch my melee itch, since I am going into this game after intentionally keeping myself away from all spoilers, so I don't actually know all that much other than what I've gotten from the first few hours I've played so far. So please no spoilers. I just want to talk skill tree's that might be fun, and potential dlc melee characters.

Does fl4k not have a dedicated melee tree or am i high?

being able to hit enemies with elemental melee attacks is awesome, amara is like best thing happened after brick. too bad you don't get to enjoy this bcuz of "personality"
anyways, key to your success is: illuminated fist. find a class mod with illu. fist +1
invest in green tree obviously.
stillness of mind augments is very useful against the hordes
honestly, no mob can stay in melee amaras way my dude, perhaps try to get over whatever is triggering you with the character? try to mod/delete her voice lines? just a thought..

Not that I'm aware of. He doesn't even seem to have a single skill in the whole game that boasts melee damage at all. I do wonder however if I could use his abilty to go invisible to stab people in the butt like I used to do with Zer0 which would be fun. I have yet to play him though, so I am unsure. Would he be better for my melee desire?

yep zero, krieg and even athena had way better melee skills

Yes, this. Honestly when it comes down to it no character can really replace Krieg. He had the best playstyle that I've ever gotten to enjoy in a Borderlands game. He was a thing all his own, but sadly I highly doubt they'd ever put him back into the game as a playable character, because they've never done that with any past characters. I'd at least settle with a character with a similar playstyle to him. Maybe a young psycho accomplice that he's trying to restore some bit of their humanity like he's managed to do with himself.

I wasn't aggro towards you, just wanted to help you out but.. clearly my bad.

krieg was indeed the best character oh man i miss him

I just watched a gameplay of a fully melee Amara build with no gun to see if she gets better later in the game and it looked so boring. He just phaselocked a bunch of people and just stood still melee hitting the enemy incapable of fighting back because they are in a bubble. Where's the fun in melee attacking people who can't fight back? Is this the super powerful melee Amara people keep talking about?

I don't think we are looking for the same thing in a melee character regardless since you said she was the best thing that's happened after Brick, and Brick is far from a top tier melee character to me as I still just find him a lackluster proto-krieg. A high level Lilth is more powerful than Brick at melee. No hard feelings though. If she's one of your fav melee people, you do you.

I just want to be able to do me too, without feeling like I'm getting forced into playstyles that aren't my cup of tea.

I'm only LV13, going for an Amara Melee Build (unhappy w wep sounds) and having no issues thus far -- may change as I get deeper into game.

they made her stupidly strong, highly viable even in endgame if you are geared up.

Good point. I was wondering how she was doing so much dmg based on limited XP. Perhaps I was desensitized by revisiting Athena prior to BL3's Steam Launch. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2017061686

I'll be honest, I only miss athena's dash ability rule: "don't kill the enemy so you can keep dashing" as long as you don't break the rule, you can be everywhere and debuff enemies same time so ultimately you can smite them next. obviously high effort but then again high reward character.
in amara, you must one shot them to keep the dash but fortunately, as long as your target is not a tanky badass, the rule still applies :bandit:

If one is into Melee, this is not the right series, it is *by far* it's weakest link, imo. BL3's feels improved - there's a miniscule amt of weight behind the blows - but still not very satisfying. :crysmiley:
