Borderlands 3

Borderlands 3

All main characters in borderlands 3 are women
Lillith, Maya, Ava and Tannis. So where is the gender equality for men? I mean if you play as zane you not part of the main group because your character has no development or screentime in cutscenes. I hope borderlands 4 has both men and women in it as important characters.

were the following characters invisible to you?

Rhys

Hammerlock

Zero
Troy
Katagawa

i think many players are stuck with the impression that there were too many women because of the overwhelming number of female characters on Sanctuary 3, for some reason, the men were scattered to different planets, while most of the female characters ended up on Sanctuary 3 (and all at the same time too)

and because Sanctuary 3 is the main hub, we keep revisiting it over and over and over, so we keep seeing all the women there (the 4 you mentioned, plus Ellie and Moxxie are there too), meanwhile, the only male characters on Sanctuary 3 are Marcus, Zero and Crazy Earl, and 2 of those 3 are hidden away in quiet corners of the ship)

it's not that there were less male characters, but they did get less screen time and attention compared to the females overall (with the exception of hammerlock and wainwright, they got more attention than anything else in BL3)

as far as i can recall, hammerlock and wainwright kissing is the only kiss i've ever seen in any BL game, right? plus they got their own DLC ontop of their own story arc in the base game
zero doesnt really count since it was a she in tales of the borderlands but now its a he again so idfk

google: "Michael Turner is the voice of Zer0 in Tales from the Borderlands."

ummm, i don't understand where you're getting voice of female from, the voice actor is male, and his voice (although altered by some type of filter) is masculine to me, even if it's not as deep sounding as the zer0 from BL2 and BL3, i'm not sure if they used a different voice actor for those two games, or if it was the setting on the voice filter, but all 3 sounded male imo
ok, so it looks like Todd Haberkorn and Michael Turner both did the voice of Zer0 in Borderlands 2

but then Michael Turner alone continued the voice for Tales, and also for BL3
but i do get where you're coming from if you're judging by pitch alone (in Tales), the setting of the voice filter to make his voice sound more robotic was definitely higher pitched than in BL2, i noticed that too, but it was still clearly male (to my ears)

for me, in ep 1 when they fight the boombox dude, it has a very high pitch (female pitch) for zero's voice

yeah i will admit that i noticed that as well, it was definitely higher pitched than his BL2 voice, but it still sounded within male range to me, we'll have to agree to disagree on that point, but i understand where you're coming from now

i think it was probably an error/misjudgement in the sound department when they were editing it

i believe this is the voice we're discussing, i still stand by my position that it's within male range, i do agree that it's higher than it was in BL2, also, the MANNER in which he spoke his line was... it was more flamboyant than usual, so i can definitely see why you thought it was a gender swap
Just chalk it to a female voice playing a male character. Nothing new in voice acting.

true, and especially so in japanese voice acting, as many of you might know, goku from dragon ball z is voiced by a woman in the japanese version

edit 2 : i mean, if you think i'm wrong, and this is a legit topic i'm willing to recenter.
please, let's discuss why you believe straight white cis men are being marginalized by this game.

I'm not arguing "Straight white cis men are being marginalized", if you actually read my post you'd see;

you aren't saying it, OP is saying it.
what i gathered from your response accusing me of "being so high and mighty as to make a judgment of what is and isn't a troll thread".

you are arguing that OP isn't trolling and that this is not, in fact, a garbage troll thread.
you communicated that you think i am wrong in making a judgment that OP is trolling.
so i challenged you to explain why you think OP isn't trolling.

so, i very politely asked you to explain why OP is justified in feeling marginalized .

i'll admit i may have made a mistake in assuming OP is a straight white cis male, when i don't know who they are, but OP's main complaint is that males are not being represented equally, so they definitely are arguing from the male perspective

and TBH, one of my favorite characters from BL2 was Brick. and I think Handsome Jack is a better villain than Tyreen.
I also like that one boss character in BL2, the one that says "this isn't over . . ..grinder!" when you kill him , because he reminds me of Christopher Walken in the bears movie "This is not ovah. . . .bears!".

i never denied that this game biased from a feminine perspective, but i don't see how that means it's marginalizing the least marginalized community in the world.
i think a lot of it is being done just because the story requires it and also because the devs thought it was funny, but yeah, some jokes fall flat.

i don't care for Tannis at all. She is not funny.

let's discuss why you believe straight white cis men are being marginalized by this game.

This is constantly moving the goal post, first you ask me to justify a view I don't hold, then when I re-iterate I don't have that view, you ask me to justify what you perceive the OP is saying, despite them having not said it, and also if it's to be taken as a troll thread that re-contextualises everything the OP said as their intent is clearly something off here.

Myself I read it more as the intent was to draw attention to some of the issues they had with the plot, in a divisive way that is trying to get a rise out of people. As such I wanted to speak on what I was perceiving as the take on the plot as my perception of it was that the thread seemed to be going down the wrong line of questioning.

what i gathered from your response accusing me of "being so high and mighty as to make a judgment of what is and isn't a troll thread".

I wasn't accusing you off anything, however what I was trying to get at is, if you feel this is a Troll thread, and I don't feel like it's a troll thread. Why actively try to stop people having a discussion. You've already said:

Icedfate eredeti hozzászólása:
I like to shut down troll topics by derailing them like this.

Which is what seemed iffy to me. Overall derailing threads is bad, so why just because the thread is a troll should it not have the same chance at a discussion as other threads. In a way I guess I could argue Troll threads are marginalised.

I made a joke about you and some other forum person sharing 4 pages worth of dialogue, where I couldn't recognise any of the character name you were using from this game. So I just made a joke that a lot has been said and that I was making my post in relation to the OP and not the random stuff in the thread that didn't seem to have anything to do with the game, which was basically confirmed by the line "by derailing them like this".

I just came here to weigh my 2 cents on why I feel this is a product of bad writing and that it is more to blame than anything. And only because i stumbled into this thread. A wild ride indeed.

To stay on topic, I feel it hasn't been stressed enough that the part where the Op says "you not part of the main group because your character has no development or screentime in cutscenes" actually applies to twice as many Women as it does Men.
