Best settings to reduce CPU usage
Currently dealing with a CPU bottleneck. Anyone know any settings to lower to help with this?

Wow... what an utterly worthless video... I like how they just gave up at the end and just said "Turn everything to high."

Well - what do you defined as CPU bottleneck? What are your specs?
Cause if you run an i386 then it would be wonderful to just have a bottleneck.

A CPU Bottleneck is when your GPU isn't able to be utilized fully because of your CPU. So lowering graphically demanding settings that aren't also CPU heavy will do little to effect your framerate.
Ryzen 7 5800x
4x8GB 3600MHz
RTX 4090

You got something else wrong cause I run

R7 5800x
32g gskil @ 3200
a 2070 super 8g
game on a ssd

No bottlenecks.....Why exactly do you think a 5800X would bottleneck in this game ?

Only thing I can think of is you have stuff running in the background

I forgot to add I can run the game fine on the highest settings too 75 fps....But I am old and only play in 1080p so

Because GPU usage hovers around 90% very often... Generally meaning you have a CPU bottleneck...

I cant see this game bottlenecking your gear ....gotta be something else :steamhappy:

@ 90% usage if the game runs smooth .In my mind its not a issue

There is always a bottleneck in a game...
Normally I'd agree but in this case I'm trying to narrow down an issue with network and general program instability when BL3 is running.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

No - that just means the game runs as intended and is not CPU bottlenecked.

No, there is always a limit, not a bottleneck. Those are different - and you do not have a CPu bottleneck as you claim.

No there is literally ALWAYS a bottleneck. It is literally impossible not to have one with a normal PC.
The game can use 99% GPU usage if I turn up the resolution so there's a bottleneck somewhere and that's more often than not the CPU.

Done.

your issue is you're pairing a not so powerful cpu with a 4090 lmao, ofc you're gonna get bottle neck, especially if you're not even gonna push that card a lot.
