Riding to Ruin - BUG FIX CONFIRMED WORKING
So I've found a fix for this 3yr+ old bug which has worked for me, so thought I should share it for others who have suffered this pain in the past or will in the future.

PLEASE NOTE: I'm EXTREMELY proud I have managed to fix this, so although I'm more than happy for people to share this information elsewhere, please do at least cite the fact this is where the original fix was posted.

These are the steps I followed.

(Please note the below assumes you have Riding to Ruin selected as your active mission in game)

1.) Download BL3 Save Editor (https://github.com/FromDarkHell/BL3SaveEditor)

2.) Locate your save folder (typically C:\Users\[PROFILENAME]\Documents\My Games\Borderlands 3\Saved\SaveGames\[STEAMID])

3.) IMPORTANT!!!!! - Make a backup of your save file!

4.) Open save file in Save Editor (make sure you are NOT actively in the save in game)

5.) Navigate to "Raw" tab.

6.) In the search field at the top of the Raw tab, type "mission".

7.) In the displayed result "MissionPlaythroughsData" click the "(Collection)" next to it.

8.) In the new window, you should have "MissionLists" in the right hand section, and you again want to click "(Collection)" to the right of it.

9.) Again a new window will open. Look on the left hand pain, where a list of all missions completed or active are present. They all read "OakSave.MissionStatusPlayerSaveGameData" so you will need to manually check them for the correct one, but usually the one you want will be close to the end of the list.

10.) While manually checking each of these items, look in the right hand pain at the field labelled "MissionClassPath" until you find the one which reads "Game/PatchDLC/Geranium/Missions/Plot/Mission_Ep05_Crater.Mission_Ep05_Crater_C"

11.) Once you have found this item, the "ActiveObjectiveSetPath" field in the right hand pain should currently read "/Game/PatchDLC/Geranium/Missions/Plot/Mission_Ep05_Crater.SET_FollowTitus_ObjectiveSet". You will be changing this in the next step.

12.) Change "ActiveObjectiveSetPath" to instead read "/Game/PatchDLC/Geranium/Missions/Plot/Mission_Ep05_Crater.SET_InitialTalkToDakota_ObjectiveSet"

13.) Next look at the section which says "ObjectivesProgress" and click on "(Collection)" next to it. You will see a column of 0s, 1s and 2s.

14.) Change these numbers so the first four numbers read: 1, 0, 0, 1. Change all other numbers below these to 0.

15.) OK your way out of the opened additional windows, then use the "Save" button in the main BL3 Save Editor.

Once done, you can load up your save. The mission will have reset to the beginning where you enter Vestige to meet Juno. I have just got done testing this in game and successfully played through to her blowing up the door in The Blastplains. Just make sure to follow them all the way there and not deviate to do anything else as this is what causes the bug in the first place!

It should be Episode 1 at the start. Although the guide says Episode 5. So...

/Game/PatchDLC/Geranium/Missions/Plot/Mission_Ep01_WestlandWelcome.SET_TakeSheriffBadge_ObjectiveSet

Status should be "MSNotStarted".

I don't want to appear silly, but maybe I'm missing something. Am I supposed to follow the original guide and then ADDITIONALLY look for the MissionClassPath

/Game/PatchDLC/Geranium/Missions/Plot/Mission_Ep01_WestlandWelcome.Mission_Ep01_WestlandWelcome_C

that has ActiveObjectiveSetPath set to

/Game/PatchDLC/Geranium/Missions/Plot/Mission_Ep01_WestlandWelcome.SET_TakeSheriffBadge_ObjectiveSet

and then set Status to

MSNotStarted

?

However, this put my game in a sort of suspended state. as soon as I load my game ("continue") I find myself in front of the gate that is supposed to be blown, and I am the only one there. Furthermore, ALL missions look to have been completed: nothing can be further done ....

:'(

:help:
One think I noticed that threwme off. On step 14. the part with the numbers is scrollable. This guide worked wonders for me once I changed all numbers below the initial 4 to "0".

@kaliaragorn other than that I just sticked with each step from the original guide.

Yes, the collections must be "0" if there any in the list. Or just blank.

guys, it worked for me as well... FINALLY!

I really tried several times, was getting really frustrated... I don't know if this is related, but I'm posting this, as it might be of help for someone else:

* at step 14 of the guide, I was changing all numbers after the first four to ZERO. at some point, I decided to make a last attempt by leaving the first 4 numbers

* 1
* 0
* 0
* 1

and DELETING all the remaining ones.

boom. it worked like a charm.

thank you everybody for your support, and God bless you!

ciao from Italy
