Borderlands franchise dieing?
recently they been working on the tiny Tina game but at the same time borderlands 2/3 have a player base but no updates. it also gets very boring when u constantly play the story over and over again and tiny Tina isn't even that fun. there hasn't been a update in awhile and its losing player base nor does it look like they even care.

What is up with people expecting every game to be a live service game with content drip-fed for years? Borderlands 2 & 3 launched, all their content was released, the end.

Tiny tina hasn't gotten any updates for awhile if anything it got the least amount of support compared to any other release.

Yes, there are no updates because Borderlands 2 / 3 are finished games that have completed its dev cycle. These are not games designed as a service with ongoing revenue stream, they make their money upfront selling the game and DLC. Maybe they will release a new DLC for B3 when/if B4 is released, similar to what they did in B2 when B3 was released but who knows.

Anyways it's normal for games to lose players as they finish the game and get bored and move on to other games.

https://www.ign.com/articles/embracer-to-close-studios-cancel-games-and-lay-off-staff-after-2-billion-deal-falls-through

since gearbox has been merged with the embracer group in 2021, this news of games cancellation and staff layoffs disaster at embracer could mean that they could be forced to shelf their newer borderlands projects until further notice.

Doubt it. Borderlands is one of their most successful IPs. The article doesn't even mention Gearbox (outside of a list of Embracer-owned studios) or Borderlands, so why even go there with speculation?

its mostly a random speculation out of a whim. some says embracer wants to turn borderlands into more of a movie/tv series in the future. with the upcoming borderlands movie that seems to be a mish mash of many elements from all the borderlands games, who knows what exactly embracer's stance is on borderlands franchise.

After seeing the New tales I doubt a tv/movie would work.
kukuhimanpr Jun 14, 2023 @ 6:07am
agreed. embracer seems to be more cautious now despite their confidence that most of their promising projects would be fine. i feel terrible for those who got laid off...

the devs killed borderlands

the devs betrayed many fans of BL with all of their level cap increases

we shall never forget, now shall we forgive the injustice that was done to us

that's why borderlands died

Borderlands peaked with 2. Everything since then has been downhill in some way.

Actually, come to think of it, Borderlands could be done well as an Anime movie, with Handsome Jack as antagonist. But the Telltale Games team should write the screenplay and dialogues, BL3 team should not be allowed anywhere near the story, characters and screenplay.

yes... i'd really like gaige to be shown in a spin offshort anime styled episode series like how cd projekt had done really well with cyberpunk blade runner. seriously, gaige and many of borderlands characters with very expressive personalities would be rendered really well in anime style compared to the lazy facial expressions we have in borderlands games. but of course, gearbox would need a new team that were experienced in anime modeling stuff. i've seen many western movie series trying to make some spin off with anime style design, and many of them had gotten great success on that.

as long as BL games have the bazillion guns, it will never die

because no other fps does the bazillion guns thing

so it holds a monopoly on a VERY attractive and addictive feature in gaming (and it's only going to get better as far as the guns are concerned)
kukuhimanpr Jun 15, 2023 @ 3:51pm
not every players are playing borderlands for the bazilion guns thing in the 1st place. some of them just want to be immersed in borderlands' world with their favorite characters. tales from the borderlands fans would stand for that.
