Why is the install size so large?

Back in the day I thought I remember this game being closer to 60GBs on launch? At least for the consoles it was around there.

Well, on xbox 1 it was around 40GBs launch day. Looked it up. I was wrong about the 60GBs on consoles I guess. In this case, it seems like the 4K textures here aren't optional and they're what are inflating the file size to be so massive. Cuz 138GBs for a single game puts it in the top ten for file sizes.

thankfully in b2 at least the hi textures were optional dlc. gearbox seems to be unwilling to optimize b3 since it looks like they've considered b3 as finished product.

I was just hoping the 4k textures were optional DLC or something. It's a somewhat rare practice in gaming though.
