I didn't complete the plot and all the dlc remained at level 30, now I realized what I had to do, since I was level 40 for a long time. You need to go through the plot first, and then the DLC, right?
otherwise all of the mission reward items and all the loot you get will eventually become filthy worthless trash once you reach max level
For me, the legendary weapon is not the main thing, it is important for me to get at least some resistance, so that my Loader Pet gets at least some resistance in a fight, but for him the most difficult thing so far is to find a way to the enemy)
it's not just the weapons, if you play the dlc before you reach max level max mayhem, then all gear, all loot (other than money) picked up or earned as a mission reward will turn into worthless diarrhea once you reach max level
and there are several items that are dlc exclusive, so you'll have to replay the dlc at max level anyway if you want to attain those items at max level
I don't know because I've only played one character, but I'm pretty sure it's per character and you have to play everything over again if you wanna switch based on what I've read in other forum posts.
I've been playing entirely with a Big Game - Hunter Skill build since the beginning of my ~200 hours of play time. I've noticed that one of FL4K's strengths is being able to swap out pets any time with a very short cooldown.
Part of this being a strength is because of the pet bugginess. Path finding being one of them, ignoring commands, sometimes just standing in one place and doing nothing at all being others. Re-summoning a pet (which requires swapping to another one and swapping back) will fix most of these, at least for a moment.
The other part being able to swap out elemental damage types and melee vs ranged attacks. The ION Loader starter Purple Tree pet is the only one I have access to in that tree because I'm all Orange/Green/Blue but it has the best ranged attacks and seems to hit the hardest. But, it's much slower than my Spiderants and always sits as far back as possible frequently shooting walls (the electric ball can go through the walls but the Attack Command DoT doesn't).
I've been thinking about trying a Gamma Burst and/or pet DPS focused build, but I have to use Stealth defensively most of the time (but the low 3 point skill, forget the name, in the Blue tree that does -45% Action Skill cooldown is a must, I'm not even using ANY of the on-kill cooldown reduction skills and it's enough most of the time).
Playing on Mayhem 8, some things I still can't do at all (lost repeatedly in the Maliwan Takedown boss fights last night, but got close the first time at least), but I'm still grinding Guardian Ranks.
Everyone says Moze is OP and the strongest of everything so I'm considering just trying her instead as well.
