Why do people say Borderlands 2 story is better than 3 ?

I haven't played 2 since it first came out so i really can't remember the story at all.

But can someone explain why everyone considers Borderlands to to be much better in terms of story and what was missing or wrong with Borderlands 3?

Cause BL1,2,TPS at least have a somewhat consistent story, where as 3 has - listetning to bubbling sewage would give you a better story.
There is an impending galactic war that the Watchers warned us about, and the crimson raiders did .......... absolutely nothing. Instead 2 braindamaged siren kiddos somehow manages to unite the bandits, take over entire planets, found a new completely open to the air fault on pandora (you know - the planet were a giant mega-coorporation took years to just FIND the vault), and team up with other mega coorporations to take over other weapon manufacturers.
Reason - "we wanna wrack the world cause we are angry at Dad". A dad i might add that is the single most well known person in the universe, the inspiration for Tannis, that just so happens that nobody has ever heard of before.

And then there is Ava.

because borderlands 2 has awesome og gaige, deathtrap and gaige's dad. jandsome hack. og claptrap with his og VA david eddings. zombie tk baha making fun of borderlands canon, mr. torgue, torgue announcer and torgue dlc. and lastly, the unforgettable FACE MCSHOOTY.

though for me, its mostly because b2 has gaige and dt. the original awesomely badass dorky cyberpunk anarchist inventor engineer which is far more engaigeing than b3's fake depressed woke slave gaige written by NEW b3 writers who didn't give a sht about her fascination with vault hunting and abandoning her GIANT plotline of evading holloway's 'richer than god' intergalactic bounty rewards on her.

i had to also add that the way b3 ruined the buildup and hype after the main casts of b2 (b2 hunters at least), b1.5 (athena at least) and tftb (rhys, fiona, sasha, and vaughn) by cutting out gaige, krieg, salvador, axton, athena, the eridian watcher, fiona and sasha from the b3 main story is what ruined it for many veteran borderlands fans. thats like more than 50% main casts being absent from the story for weak or no reasons. plus the way b3 writers throw away vaughn's super corporate IT financial hacking skill in favor of turning him into another friendly claptrap hippie psycho clown with big diapers is total cringe and unamusing in every way, while also greatly insult his character development.

in comparison, b2 respectfully added all the important npc from borderlands 1 plus all the b1 vault hunters in b2 main story (with exception of helena pierce which jack had killed offscreen befor b2 began), and all of them had been given important role within b2 main story, while jandsome hack himself fills out the huge role of being the standing out solo megavillain that you can't help but despise and laugh at simultaneously. b3 writers are too focused on spotlighting their new characters while only handpicking some returning pre-b3 characters that they picked out with much arbitrary bias value into b3 main story, thus leaving huge plot holes and giant elephants in the room everytime you're experiencing b3 main story, wondering where the f are the rest of the main casts that should've been there.

Wouldn’t even say they place much spotlight on the new characters. Most just show up for their respected planet then disappear for the rest of the game. Honestly just highlights even if they included old characters they wouldn’t know what to do with them.

wouldn't surprise me if the NEW gearbox or embracer or 2k or whatever studios ditched most of the new characters in b3 when they make b4. they'll just recycling the pattern of "We're the new writers, and our NEW stuff is better than the old shtty stuff from the old writers." ad infinitum.

All the stories ot the entire saga are trash. This game it's just pure good gameplay, that's all.

some people might think b1+b2+b1.5+tftb story are trash, but at least they're not as trashy than b3 main story which insults the legacies of the story left behind by its predecessors.

i have a feeling that b4 will just take place at like hundreds of years later so that the new b4 writers can just leave behind all the ruins of plotholes and retcons in b3 while they also will have the safe spots to build their own new borderlands saga. might as well just remaster and restart borderlands story from b1 like how mortal kombat is now restarting to mortal kombat 1.

while writing isn't amazing 2 and TPS had some good narrative moments, plus the plot of 3 comes at the expense of gameplay.
