People have tested it somewhat but killing 2000 bosses seems to not have been enough to get any significant change in drop-rate. And it is questionable that even if it has an impact it would be worth it considering that mayhem-levels give insane increases anyways.
You are better of using items that make your character stronger and kill the enemies faster.
This feels like a reference to something I don't get. I know the game is riddled with pop culture and other references (item names/quest names/etc) - some of which are fairly old (I'm in my 40s) and somewhat obscure (maybe not intentional, not sure).
I'd love to give some examples, but I haven't played for like a week (I'm like lvl 30 I think) and nothing immediately springs to mind - but, it is one of the aspects I enjoy.
