Low XP in DLC?
Just beat the game and finally started one of the DLCs, specifically the Moxxi casino one. I'm halfway through the first area and I'm getting really low XP (as low as 20) from killing enemies, even on Mayhem level 2. Is it just in the first area of the DLC like it was in Borderlands 2, or am I missing something here? Should I start a new playthrough in True Vault Hunter Mode and THEN start the DLC? WHAT"S GOIN ON?!

When you have mayhem mode on, paythrough doesn't matter. Just proceed in this DLC until you can fight Scraptrap Nest. It's very good source of XP.

Turns out I actually AM getting normal XP from killing enemies and I'm just a moron. After getting a kill, there are two numbers that appear near the XP bar: one for regular level XP, and another for Vault Card progress, and because there are now 3 XP bars in total (one for Guardian Rank progress, one for levelling and the last for Vault Cards), I was mistaking the Vault Card XP pop-up for the regular levelling one, which is giving more understandable payouts of around 400-600.

I still feel like I'm not getting ENOUGH XP per enemy for how difficult they are and the Mayhem level 2 bonus of 40% more XP, but I suppose that's the price I pay for playing on Normal Mode.

If you are playing on mayhem mode, true vault hunter mode offers no difference to the gameplay, as it acts like a mayhem 0.5; Basically, if you don't have mayhem enabled, you are on mayhem 1 without the modifier or more powerful weapons.

As for not getting enough xp, I recommend getting to mayhem 11 as soon as you can. Once there, get some good weapons, your kills will speed up again, and you will start leveling faster.
