Frequent crashing and stuttering since update.
I'm experiencing extremely frequent crashes since the latest update that included the Director's Cut. Normally the game occasionaly crashed when starting, maybe once every 20 boots. Since the latest patch the game crashes during gameplay, when exiting the game from the main menu and when I'm interacting with vending machines,
The crashes are so common that it is not playable at this point in time.

The game also stutters extremely often now, something that also did not occur before the patch. My framerate is usually quite high (80-100) but since the patch it drops to about 30-40 very often before shooting back up again which causes a massive stutter. I'm using G-sync but the stutters are so common and severe that unfortunately that doesn't help.

I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing similar issues since the latest patch.
Feel free to share your experience if you've been experiencing similar issues.

Same here with i5 10600K / GTX 1660 Ti. Before update game was running well...

Update.

I've fixed the crashing issues partially by enabling DX11 instead of DX12 for now. The game still crashed once after that which is still more then usual but the majority of the crashes seem to have disappeared for now.
I get better framerates with DX12 though which is unfortunate.

I can't seem to fix the stuttering unfortunately.

I have rolled back my graphics driver to 460.79 on DX11 and 12. Nothing is changed. Before this Director's Update game was super smooth.

I'm on an older driver myself but the new driver did not make any difference so I rolled back again. It seems that the patch is the culprit of all the performance issues.
I've tried reinstalling the game as well and that didn't solve the issue either.

I did reinstall Borderlands 3, I mean clean installed, nothing is changed... Gearbox should fix this issue asap...

After the new patch, FPS is totally horrible in Borderlands 3. I have tried with DX11 and DX12, no O.C on graphics card or CPU. My OS is always updated, graphics card driver version is 465.89.

* I have tried with 460.79 driver version but still the same.
* I disable G-SYNC option, nothing is changed.
* I tried 3 different SSD drives, M2 SSD, SATA SSD or portable SSD, nothing is changed.
* I changed detail level as LOW or MEDIUM, nothing is changed

and sometimes I have FATAL ERROR and game is crashing by that error

" Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION writing address 0x00000000000000024 "

I have NO issues on other games. I am playing GODFALL, AC: Valhalla and Division 2 and Battlefield 5 on my PC, no issues at all.

TEXTURE STREAMING should return to this game, because game performance is really HORRIBLE. FPS is drop down from 135 to 90, GPU usage is drop down to %99 to %61, %55,%41...

As I said, I have NO issue on any other games with my system. So, DO NOT BLAME my game rig...

My system specs are;

* i5 10600K
* 2x8gb DDR4 3000Mhz ram
* GTX 1660 Ti graphics driver (465.89) >> tried old driver versions multiple times...
* I have 3 types of SSD drives, M2, SATA and portable SSD, tried all of them, still same.

Gearbox, FIX YOUR GAME...

Gearbox, FIX YOUR GAME...

That crash error is the same one that I had. I managed to solve that crash by switching to DX11. I always got this error when I exited to desktop through the game's main menu.
Give DX11 a try if youre currently on DX12 as that is what solved most of my crashes including that particular error.

Your rig is definetly not the culprit. The stuttering seems to have been caused by the latest patch. Borderlands 3 always had stuttering issues but the latest patch seems to have made it significantly worse. I'm not experiencing stutter in my other games either, only in Borderlands 3.

I'm afraid that this stuttering issue can't be solved on our side and it's up to Gearbox to fix it. The game also crashes more often now but switching to DX11 did made a big difference for me and theyre a bit less frequent now.

Thanks for the detailled response!

Unfortunately, Stutter and FPS drop issues are still horrible, even though we got rid of the crash problem by switching to DX11.

Before patch my gamerig is far better on DX12, almost perfect when I was playing, no stutters, no fps drops...

It's the patch. I'm having these issues with an AMD processor and card. People are reporting this regardless of hardware manufacturer.

Hi since playing this game ive had nothing but trouble with lag and stuttering all the borderlands series is good apart from this one ive got all my settings to very low still makes no difference gpu is 11gb 1080ti ive literally gone into nvidia geforce and nvidia control panel still the same so basically im at a loss basically not my pc as its very expensive.
MasterBlaster Apr 10, 2021 @ 1:50pm
try DX11 instead DX12 (crashing) and set TextureStreamingPoolSizeMBOverride back to -1 and disable texturestreaming (-notexturestreaming) with Nvidia driver 465.89. This fixed the stuttering to 98% for me!!!
( WOLF) briggsy55 Apr 10, 2021 @ 2:21pm
Yea maybe for you but not for other people like me ive over 4,000 worth of pc it shouldn't be lag/stuttering at all.
Rx 6800 not loading. App running error
