Is this game extremely woke?
I am strongly considering buying, but I heard some people say it's like a 10/10 on the woke scale

I didn't really like B2 that much but I'm having a blast with B3. The gun play and weapon variety is very good, the story line is meh but there are quite a few side quests especially with the directors cut. I have 210 hrs just on my first character, I'm doing another play through with the new dlc. If you love fast paced gun play and killing ♥♥♥♥ by all means pick it up and the dlc.

Sounds like you had already made up your mind before you made your little thread.

Urban Dictionary definition of woke, makes someone that is "anti-woke", seem like a proponent for racial discrimination, is anti-LGBTQ+, etc.

These are all traits which are unfortunate and negative in what one would consider a "good and kind" human being, it makes the community a better place if we reduce the need and propensity for hate among us.

After that, up to you if you want to play the game one day. Just saying.

Well that's not a real dictionary.

Please provide your definition of "woke" if it differs from the other mentions out there. If you find the game to be too "woke" on the state of current world activism and to be part of the social media activism (that the Twins in BL3 display being Echonet Bloggers), and this is something that you do not agree with, then perhaps you will not have the best of time listening to their chatter.

Yeah that's kind of what I'm talking about

I'm perfectly fine with gay characters, black, trans, strong females, etc.

I just don't want to be preached to by a video game. I don't play games to be lectured to or taught morality. That's what I mean by woke.

If there's a trans character that's fine.

If there's a trans character going on and on about the patriarchy and how bad white people are, I'm just not interested and would rather (respectfully) spend my money elsewhere.

I play video games to escape. Not listen to the developers rant their political philosophies.

Well, there's not 'that' much of it, luckily (yes, the Twins are annoying). But the characters don't preach about current going on ins the world, they're more trying to convey how much superior they are to you and how they want to absorb the power of others and open a Vault.

Alas, it can take more than the 2 hours of gaming necessary to really get to anything in the game where the Twins do the talking, so if you wish to try the game and return it within the two hour period, you may not achieve your goal of knowing if this is annoying or not to you.

BL story lines are, let's say, not the primarily reason for playing the game. It's more about gaining loot and trying to beat bosses and mobs quicker and quicker. The taunting from Twins is quickly forgotten about (and there's some taunting from lesser enemies too, but those take a back seat and are more humorous than anything).

I'm used to there being a little bit of it in just about everything these days, so if it's not trying to beat me over the head with it, I'll try the game.

I'm just getting frustrated with games recently trying to "teach" me how to be "moral."

I just don't need a video game to tell me how to live my life is all. Surely there must be a middle ground between including diverse groups of people and suffocating the player with holier-than-thou, contemporary values.

It's hardly in your face, if that's what you're worried about. Barely even there.

touching on the gay/pan male representation thing again... in movies, it's mostly the feminine gay guys getting the biggest chunk of the representation, but as you all know, gay guys come in as wide a range of personality types as straight guys, and can fall anywhere on the masculine ~ feminine scale, they're just like everyone else, so it's good to see shown that in BL3

Yeah I don't take issue with any of that. I'm just exhausted with buying a game and then having to hear buzz words and preaching for 10 hours.
