lost cash
I am so pissed right now.. I went 5 hours without dying, then died once and lost all the cash I had made. Then I went 3 hours, slipped off a train track and lost the last 3 hours worth plus a load more. A whole day and due to 2 deaths all day and I ended with 40k less than I started with. I know I'll get told how money is piss easy later but the loss on death for low level players is disgusting.

My advice: When you get enough money for the SDU/SDUs you want, spend it, there's no point in saving it to later die. My second point is that money isn't super useful in this game, the only great thing is SDUs, which you should buy when you need, and don't buy the ones you don't need when you can only afford them.
The the New-U station takes 1/10 of your money, example: you have 1 million, then you die -100k. Balance: 900k

I never said I lost it all, I said I lost all the cash I made over the 5 hours and more than I had made over the 3 hours and ended up with less than I started with.

Same issue on BL2. Running it properly for the first time and I got given an item which I sold for 8 million, joined a group that seemed suicidal and by the end of the day I had 1.200.000 left.
I snipe and try to avoid too much contact but when everyone died, all enemies home in on me.

There's no point in hoarding money, spend what you have on SDUs as often as possible, *especially during early game* bc as qZertyx stated, you'll lose ~10% each time you die.

Death SHOULD have a cost or else you wouldn't have much incentive to survive.

If you'd like to recover some lost cash, add me. I'll briefly join your game and make some weps to sell w the Fabricator Gun.

Cash doesnt matter at all though my dude. pick up all the weapons you see and sell em, i can guarantee you'll have more than you started with

If You really mind losing cash: the solution would be to save and quit before respawning process end. And you spawn in a place where you would have spawned if you died. The only downside of this is loading time, but it usually takes as much time as respawn animation

As some said, the money doesn't matter much in the beginning. The game scales exponentially, so you'll find that even the SDU's that cost millions, are fairly easy to acquire later in the game as you will earn more and more with every level up. Having said that, if you do want/need cash, you should look for a Cheddar Shredder type grenade. It generates cash when you throw it at an enemy. It's probably the go-to for making as much cash as you can handle. Also, don't forget to look in your mail (start menu) as weapon manufacturers you use a lot, will result in more weapons being dished out for you in return. You could also create a few level 13 toons by starting half way through, and use their starting cash to buy bank space slots as that is shared across all characters. This way you save the money for backpack slots as well as weapon ammo/grenade slots which are unique to a character. You can share your toon nickname and someone may add you as a friend sending you a Cheddar Shredder and some Level 65 MH10 rocket launchers (those generate a fair amount of cash when sold).

Yes not only that grenade, but there are many artifacts that give bonus money, eridium or loot.
Base progression fixes this. I learned really quick, between high loot qualities, many blues and purples with the pop yellow, cash just grows.

Losing that chunk per respawn is bunk, but as stated above, SDU the income and worry not the cash so much. Even at lvl 40 most weapon of the day or deal item is under 5 figure lowball. Most boxes you loot as you scoot the map makes up for this.

Just get past the Jacobs portion of the game and you will notice rapid income growth, just keep selling poop loot.

You're right, they can help too. I think Artifacts open up a bit too late in the game to be useful, but they can definitely help once you're in the higher echelons level-wise :)
The grenade money maker in Jack's DLC with the very aggressive zombie-like guys before Clap trap pit (same level, Trashlantis) net millions a minute and the enemies are dumb enough to come right in your face too. And the Cheddar Shredder was an early give-away, so it's way under powered to kill you too, so with a Guardian rank that spawn more grenades for every tenth kill, a full grenade loadout, perhaps some perks to have a few more depending on your character, and an hour of ones time... you'll have more cash than the game displays on your dashboard. Win!
