Borelands 3 isn't canon. It's a spin off made by liberals. Just look at how many active players there are.

Borderlands 100% is not all about the guns... and even if it were, borderlands 3 is the worst for guns in my opinion... I mean they restricted which companies sell certain gun types, and changed some manufacturer abilities to be considerably worse than before... I mean look at hyperion, they ruined that manufacturer's selection and took away the primary reason you would choose it (the increased accuracy for sustained fire) for a gimic... the idea of switching functions on a gun is cool, but honestly the older games had better guns.

The people who wrote BL3 retconned all kinds of stuff, and (mostly) ignored what made the Borderlands series good. Or ... took the wrong lessons from what the previous games offered.

But ... the framing story is that all the BL games are tales, told (mostly) by Marcus. So honestly, it's okay if they're not consistent.

So yeah ... feel free to treat it as non-canon, I do.

...oh, that's been the case throughout. Like, in the original BL, BL2, and IIRC also in TPS (not absolutely sure about that, though).

BL1 is canon and the ending killed ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ everyone. Lilith fell down a mountain and broke her jaw in 16 different places, her bunny teeth shooting straight through her frontal lobe. Roland exploded. Mordekai tried to get jiggy with his bird and got his eyes pecked out, and Brick killed himself wanting to be with his little Dusty again. RIP Brick.
