Starting a new game/character just to get to level 13, so I can play the DLC instead.
So, has anybody done this?
If I play the game properly and play the DLC after I finish, I end up being really high levels for the DLC (I know the DLC scales), because I do all the side quests and story quests in BL3, so even switching to TVHM is kind of a waste because my level will max out probably less than halfway through the main campaign.

I've played through the Blood Bounty, and Moxxi Casino after finishing the main game, but am already level 72, so any drops I get are pretty useless, because they're only useable to level 65-72 characters.

So, I was thinking of playing the Main Quest with a new character, and switch to the DLC when I reach level 13

i think there's something you can do to just start at 13 on sanctuary to do the DLC, which is what i did the first time i played (just said "♥♥♥♥ it" and did the handsome jackpot DLC before anything else because handsome jack is good and this game's story is not) so you should be good

^ this. Any character you make can jump straight to level 13 and start any of the DLCs immediately, so... you’re achieving what you’re looking for but in a much faster and simpler way.

If you make a new character with the DLC you start at 13 when you first get into space with Sanctuary. You can either do the DLC or you can continue the story.

I'm not sure whether the DLCs in season 2 take you to a higher level, I'm waiting to do those with the wifey and I didn't have the option to make a new character with the DLCs I hadn't completed.

Thanks everybody, however, I wasn't asking HOW to play the DLC at level 13, I know you can jump straight into the DLC at level 13 at the start of the game, I was just curious if anybody has ever done it the way I described in my post.
The reason I started from Level 1 was to get extra levels working towards the Vault Card rewards, along with benefitting from any drops I get along the way from level 1 to level 13.

Mayhem mode force the DLC to level sync with you even on the first playthrough iirc

You can't play Mayhem mode on a new character and game.

Ah, sorry, misunderstood. I haven't done it yet to be honest. Probably will if I make any more characters though.

OK thanks, the reason I'm doing it this way is just in case I get any good drops I can use early when I finally get to the DLC.

But your post now makes me wonder if the DLC resets for TVHM?

Well, actually this is turning out pretty good.
At level 13 I got the quest reward from "All-in Allen" of a shield that has a chance to drop objects that gives 15% Luck, which causes Legendaries to drop, which got me the Seein' Dead class mod for Zane, along with a Malak's Bane and Baby Maker+++ which is pretty awesome just for the Reload.

Now with the luck shield (From a quest to get lucky items for the guy sitting at the slot machine) I should go back to the regular game and see if I can get Hellfire and Hellwalker and a Laser-Sploder

I got a Hellwalker in my level 36 Zane game that kind of took the fun out of it, because it does 12,777 damage, so I just run around and 1-shot everything right now.

I've currently got 4 "Seein' Dead" class mods now, just finishing Moxxie's DLC, and have moved on to Love, Guns, and Tentacles DLC
