having no new characters as dlc sucks.
honestly have zero reason to replay or buy any of the dlc. having some of the more generic copy pasta from previous borderlands as your 3 starter classes is fine, but atleast do something like borderlands 2 where you get some kind of different way to play or a good excuse to replay parts of the game again.

Ok.

You should do a pacifist run, where you can only kill things with shield nova's, the environment, or other npc damage. Don't need DLC characters to make up ways to play that dont involve shooting a gun or punching someone.

So you read what he said and thought he was looking for constructive advice? All I read was "Waaaah!!! They aren't giving me what I want!!!". There wasn't even a question in his rant. You should probably not waste your time in the future responding to people like this with anything thoughtful.

Pretty sure Gearbox had said there wouldn't be new characters. Instead, it was offered that new skills or trees would/could be added. I wouldn't quote me on this, but I seem to recall something to this effect when it was in development.

The reason he isn't asking the question, is because Gearbox already said months ago that they had NO PLANS to make DLC characters for BL3. For all we know, they could change their mind. Doubtful, but that's what we were given. What exactly would OP be accomplishing by asking an already answered question, especially one that's been asked MANY times on the forums and discussions? Otherwise, be helpful and actually read the post before going off, because you didn't discuss, you just insulted for no reason.

considering the amount of build variety and action skills for each character, making any new characters would be difficult.

They did talk about new trees, but considering the last dlc of the first season just came out we can assume we won't get anything.

This season felt really bad tbh without anything new to rekindle the flame, every single one of the 4 dlcs are really lackluster aswell, none of them stand out like some did in the previous games.

And with all the nerfs to vault hunter, weapons, and the level cap increase which resulted in us having to farm AGAIN to get the good rolls we already had, the grindfest wasn't for me at all nor does it felt worth the grind either.

After thinking about what I wrote, I was too harsh. Apologies. Do I want new characters? Not if it's a slog through content I've played so many times before. D3 has rifts, which are random instances with waves of enemies and bosses. It would be nice if there was some sort of randomized zones to keep things fresh. I have no idea what Gearbox has in store after this new DLC (which I am really enjoying). People have mentioned having annoints on trinkets which is another idea to help build diversity. I love the Borderlands games. There really isn't much out there that comes close to the type of looter shooter that this game is. And I've tried most of the others. I have faith that Gearbox will continue to improve and support this game. Are they doing everything I want? Nope. But I can't think of any other game that makes it's end game still fun after hundreds or thousands of hours. Hopefully someone figures it out.

I don't really like any of the launch characters which seems to be my curse.
I have always loved playing the DLC characters. BL2 and Pre-Sequel I didn't even finish until, they released ones that I actually had a lot of fun playing. I went on to play countless hours with those characters on xbox and then pc.
BL3 will probably stay in the "never bothered to finish the DLC" department for me unfortunately.
Zane is kind of OK I guess but I need more than "just OK" to spend more time on it than I have.
I guess it is just one of those things where you can't like a game forever since they make so many sequels these days.
Eventually you are probably going to be disappointed and skip a game or move on to a different one.

I find this odd, as the characters in bl3 have the most varied skills and builds of all 3 games.

The problem is that Gearbox is a bad studio. Basically all DLC for the pre-sequel was garbage, and two of those DLC's were nothing but a new character. So because that was poorly received, they assumed we didn't want DLC characters. Nevermind that Krieg was one of the best characters they ever made, and essentially re-invented the game for me when I picked him up.

I wish I could go back in time & give the whole Borderdlands franchise to a better game company.

totally agree^ loved playing as krieg and to the previous reply, i dissagree that borderlands 3 has " most varied skills and builds", all 3 classes/playstyles, i have 0 interests of playing them, and honestly 2 of em just feels like previous generic classes but some slight changes. then the robot guy is just a druid/beastmaster thing. thats it, nothing really new or exciting to play if you dont like playing any of those 3 specific skill sets

That is an issue with you dude, they have the most variety and if you think about it every game is essentially an improvement over previous characters with some tweaks. So that reason can be applied to any game not just BL3.

I apologized for my harsh response. I'm leaving it up because it's what I wrote, and the gist of it is still appropriate. But no, I'm not always an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ when I respond to people. Just like you probably don't always cheat and get caught when you play games on steam ;p
