Can't join friends/friends can't join

Been playing with the same friend yesterday. Then today, for no reason, i can't join him and he can't join me. I have 1 ms latency on every speedtest. All other games are fine. Same for him.

Edit: Also we both cannot matchmake. Yesterday everything was fine.

And when he try or i try, under our nametags we can see the ''local only'' icon apearing, greyd out.

I figured it out. I’m on pc, using steam. If you start the game normally and try to join it won’t work. I tried joining my buddies game in session from steam and it worked for me. Good luck

ONLY THE ONE WHO IS JOINING NEEDS TO DO THIS

Go to https://shift.gearboxsoftware.com/associations 69 and unlink Steam (Or whatever platform you are launching the game through).
Start the game usually > enable PC crossplay > type some temporary nickname.
Go to social > Shift > log in to your account > pick your username.
Join the host in his lobby through Shift > continue playing.

In most cases the connectionproblems with this game seem to be caused by blocked ports of the TCP/UDP Networkprotocol. If the needed ports are blocked by your routerconfiguration you can open them via portforwarding. In my case the ports are blocked by a strict NAT configuration of my ISP.

The only thing that helps is using a VPN. I am using Zerotier right now. It also helps me to get lower pingtimes and lower latency in other games as well.
