How to turn on Cartel event

In my events menu, it just says its inactive. I cannot figure out how to turn this on. Things ive tried:
I dont see the quest in my log
I repaired my steam files
I don't see anywhere to activate the cartel option before the game starts
I talked to Maurice, he doesnt give any quests
Maurice doesnt start talking to me when I go kill things

Am I missing something?

It's on the opening menu at the bottom where you select your character. Enable / disable

Could you be more specific please? Ive looked through all the menus in the main menu but still no luck

Well than it is definitely not installed on your system. Try restarting Steam and see if the download kicks in. If it doesn't than something is wrong with your network, maybe a firewall or Windows stopping the download.

Make sure Steam updates are turned on. That's all I can think of.

The first time you log in during Revenge of the Cartels, you'll get a repeatable quest from Maurice aboard Sanctuary III that must be completed in order to reach Villa Ultraviolet. During the event, neon-glowing Cartel Operative enemies can be found lurking around the galaxy, including areas from campaign add-ons. When you kill an Operative, a dead-man's switch signal is sent to their cohorts, and some Cartel Thugs will warp in to avenge their slain comrade.

Be on your guard, because Cartel Thugs might also be accompanied by one of the Eridium Cartel's Underbosses. These are unique, Badass-level enemies belonging to one of the Cartel's three gangs (more on those in a bit). Eliminating these reinforcements will net you Hideout Coordinates; once you've collected enough of these, Maurice can open up a portal that leads directly to Villa Ultraviolet.

Okay this isnt very helpful. What if you DONT get a repeatable quest from Maurice?

You have to be online and connected to Shift for it to work I think.

got the same problem as above and on top of it not wanting to activate i can't log into the shift servers in game ( i keep getting an error). so yea this "event" sure is fun for every one.

It turns out you need to be online in order to start the quest. Wish it would have said that somewhere...

While that is important I am online but Borderlands 3 still thinks I'm "offline" which is bs but oh well. It might be caused by my internet service provider (DON'T ever get nelnet satilite internet, it sucks so much) so I may just be fubar'd on playing the event.
