Cartel Spawning in Slaughter Shaft Arena
I can't decide if this is good or bad. Good, I'm getting a challenge. Bad, Caretel guys are messing up the optional goals. For most of the optional parts, Cartel guys that get teleported in during the match don't count. They do count for the Goliath Enraging part, so that all of a sudden is super easy. Everything else...

Also the number of cartel guys that spawn in basically tripples the amount of guys you have to kill. That kind of makes up for the reduced drop rate. I am not comming out of this with anymore legendaries than I was getting before the 4/23/20 update.

I'm hating this event with how much the cartel enemies are spawning in. I feel they spawn too often. I ended up dropping a Mayhem level to make sure I can finish the Slaughter Shaft without dying.

The Slaughter Shaft is definitely one moment where I'd disable the Cartels, simply because it's a whole set of disaster dominoes that really prolongs the whole run.

No one is forcing you to play with cartels. Just turn it off for circles.

No they aren't, but they could have disabled it in arenas. Slaughters with Cartels is exponentially harder unless you save them for last in the wave.

Funny thing is I haven't even talked to Maurice. The default settings have cartels showing up before the quest even starts.

Talking to Maurice activates storyline...default setting have Cartel enabled so they will show up in game where ever you are. You can disable event till you are ready for the whole event if you want.
