BUGS: "The Family Jewel" Quest

Just wanted to report this. We had to restart the game 4 times to get through "The Family Jewel" main quest once we entered the actual Family Jewel ship in Voracious Canopy. The first time, the host game just died. On the next run, we beat everyone on the bridge, but couldn't even find Balex to proceed to the next area (no blue diamond anywhere, either). Ditto on the 3rd run, except that we managed to spy BALEX's head walking around on the floor (but couldn't interact with him). On the 4th run, I fell through the floor and out into space. We didn't actually have to restart the game on that one. We just fast-traveled to Sanctuary and back.

Pretty much a pain.

I seen so many run into this for some strange reason, I did that mission on 3 different playthroughs so far and not had an issue.

i did however have the falling through the floor issue on other maps, happened to me once on the troy battle and once on Carnivora map

Up until this quest, we've been mostly OK. I think I've head two other crashes to desktop and some other minor glitches. This particular quest just seemed to pile them all on together. No idea why.

yep, lots of glitches and crashes in this game. ON this mission got to the security center and the bot fell through the floor- will attempt to fast travel to sanctuary.

Would be good if you wrote an actual bug-report/ticket with 2k-games or gearbox - maybe at some point they would fix one of the bugs.... unlikely.

Anyway, easy to solve the problem.

!. Fast travel out of the map to another map and return to the first point and run all the way to BALEX.

2. Restart the game. You should be at the last spawn position. Run to BALEX.

3. The secret is to never rush into the security terminal. Stay near the Entrance Door and shoot the Bots from there. Don't rush in as BALEX will get stuck.

Yes, it's a bug, because when you rush, BALEX will attempt to get to the Security Terminal and the where the program code gets screwed-up. And it's because BALEX will also fight the Bots. That's where the code is confused.

BALEX is supposed to stay-out of the fight zone. Not supposed to follow you.
