The 980 is a good card, but its getting old and barely hanging on if you want decent settings and not low. Atleast if you have a decent processor. I could get around 60 fps with most things on high (no aa ofc) on a 1080p monitor, but it takes alot tweaking with settings and its that for most games on that card now.
I just replaced my old 980 with a 2070, a 980 is not keeping up anymore.
The only instance your GPU would not be maxed out is when your CPU is a bottleneck or you are locking your FPS.
This is the only game that maxes out like this. I think it's the game not optimized. I play RDR2 just fine, on low settings. GTA5 on med settings just fine. I was just playing the Division 2 with no hiccups.
On the other hand RDR2 if one game with some of the worst optimization ive ever seen at least on launch,my brother couldnt reach 60fps on mid on an gtx1080ti.......and seeing that you play rdr2 and gta not on higher settings and saying BL3 is bad optimized makes it even more clear that the cpu needs an upgrade
I am not having problems with FPS. I am proving that playing RDR2 (yes i know how bad optimize it is) that my GPU is not maxing out. I get 45fps on my 1440p monitor and 60 on 1080. But it don't blow up my GPU to 100%.
And I can't escape it by lowering the visuals any more then it is.
CPU: AMD FX-8350 | Intel i5-3570 or better.
RAM: 6GB RAM.
HDD: 75 GB available space.
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7970 | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2GB or better.
OS: Windows 7/8/10 64-bit with latest service pack.
Screen Resolution: 1920×1080.
thats the min specs just in case
I have a 1070 and run the game at 80 - 90fps in medium/high. That will do until they release cards that I want to spend my money on.
I think the 980 is not a bad card per say but the 4gb memory is what hurts it in newer games.
