A question regarding anointed items
Do the effects of anointments stack together? Lets say I got a shield and a gun that both boasts my damage by 200% after using my action skill. Would I get 400% damage or just the 200%? I can't tell if I'm actually doing more damage or not. If they don't stack are there situations where they do. Like an class specific anointment for 200% melee and a not class specific melee boast of 100%? Do they stack if they're different? Can I get say a weapon damage boast, and more damage to badasses, or whatever other anointment, or does it simply prioritize one over the other depending on the situation? I've been experimenting and am having difficulty telling if I'm really getting all my anointment boasts.

So does anyone know for sure? I checked the wiki and didn't see it mentioned, and I want to get the most bang out of what I have.

Just test it on Jack at Sanctuary.

I just tested this on Jack. I have a shield and a pistol that are both anointed with 200% melee damage after a phaseslam. With neither item, I melee for 12K. With either item, or both items, I melee for 19K. So it's not as advertised.

Edit: I also did a test while holding an unannointed Psycho Stabber pistol (+120% melee damage) and still wearing the annointed shield. Normal melee 17K. Melee following the phaseslam 23K. Again, nothing is as advertised, either as regards the annointment or as regards the +melee on the pistol.

ok but how much +% melee damage do you have from other sources? (guardian ranks, talents, gun attachments, etc.) because it wont multiply with those, just add on to them, so dont expect the total dmg to increase by the exact % on the anointments

Good point. I also have a relic with +80% shock damage. Then I have the Illuminated Fist passive for a 75% melee increase and Blitz for a 100% increase. Blitz does not seem to have any effect at all against Jack. I assume that Illuminated Fist is doing its thing, but I'm too lazy to respec to test it. If I remove the relic, however, melee damage drops to from 12K to 7184. This 7184 becomes 11K after the anointed phase slam, and the Psycho Stabber improves the 7184 melee hit to 9483. The only number that seems reasonably close to expectations is the 80% for the relic. Since there ARE other variables, however, I certainly can't rule out that it might all make some sort of sense ...

having multiple anointments of the same type active (like a grenade mod and shield sharing the same effect) will not stack.

if you want proof get involved with the bl3 modding discord and learn how to memory edit stuff and test it out yourself (like hack in the same anoint for all equipped items) and you'll see that the effect only applies once without stacking.
