Can’t play offline?

Hi all, I have put 3 hours into Borderlands 3 while playing online, but I am in a place without WiFi now and I keep getting the following message:

Steam is currently in Offline Mode. For the first launch go in Online Mode.

I have played this game already and I know from google that it supports offline play. What gives? Thanks.

I saw that happen too. A popup when trying to launch offline. I can tell you one thing if you are online, and playing game. Losing connection to Steam keeps you in game.

If you want to play bad enough connect via your phones hotspot feature long enough for the game to be verified. Clearly you have net on your phone or whatever since you are posting here, so the hotspot feature should work.

And yet people still defend DRM (for some reason). The game has already been cracked yet they won't remove it and punish paying customers. This is why I haven't bought the game yet. Maybe when there's a deep GOTY sale...

If you have your games backed up locally, they'll all work perfectly in Steam in Offline Mode as long as there's no extra DRM. Denuvo-infected games, however, will be gone for good.

That is very weird I did launch BL3 wikth Steam in offline mode and no internet connection I just wasnt logged to shift but totally able to play.

I know the first time you launch the game Denuvo requires online activation but once that is done you should be good to go.

-This is false. Any time you attempt to run the game offline, even after activation, the game will not run. It will tell you to go online to play. Even for single player content.-


UPDATE: Sigh. So I stand corrected. I logged in from a wifi. Booted the game up. Got in. Then shut it down. Then when I went back out to my post (where I have no wifi) I tried the game and it launched just fine. Note that I did change my mp settings to local only. So either that may have something to do with it, OR there some undetermined amount of time where you have to login online every so often to play the game.
