Krakatoa does an obscene amount of damage as well but nowhere near as much as Lob on Amara, as Amara benefins from getting off status effects, something that Krakatoa doesn't do lol.
But yeah, I still have fun in the game, taking my time collecting fun weapons, I simply decided not to use these weapons, or rather, not to use Lob. I still take it out from time to time in FFYL because I know for a fact I can get up with it in a second, even if only mob around is an anointed lol.
I do understand not everyone can get into the mindset to not use certain weapons because OP, very easy to get stuck in the mindset of "why would I ever use anything else?"
Do the two weapons deserve a nerf? Hell yeah they do lol. I know the Lob got buffed a while back but it got way overtuned, if you don't even need to care about what element you're using, and can delete bosses even with things like Corrosion against health, you've got one OP weapon. :p
Krakatoa doesn't need much of a nerf but certainly an adjustment in weapon damage.
Well I just started a playthrough where I can't use any unique items, and tbh the game feels much better when played that way, I'm constantly checking even the white guns for sidegrades to my equipment and whatnot, some of the legendaries I've found in my playthrough could've easily carried me over tens of levels, making all these weapons that I've used now completely overlooked.
Also Lob and Krakatoa don't need status changes for balancing, I'd just make it so that Lob cannot penetrate targets, because one shock lob burst can currently take a whole shieldbar away from Wotan. Krakatoa just has the problem of it being full auto, the Volcano was never full auto and the perk of it supports destroying single targets to give off volcanoes on the battlefield.
So yeah, every penetrating weapon needs tuning and Krakatoa could just be a semi auto with a damage buff to kill off trash mobs.
1. To me Legendaries in BL have always been gimmick weapons or referencial items, powerful being just a byproduct of their unique mechanics, but in BL3 they just outshine every other piece of loot by being statistically just that much more effective, and in BL3 there's a lot more fluff Legendaries that really offer nothing than just bloat the loot tables
In Bl1 I can pick up a white weapon even in late game if it has handling stats I like better to damage, for example a shotgun having spread attributes so tight that it's better than opting for higher tier damage.
2. Yet we have a Zane main friend who is also like us just crutching on Lob and Krakatoa no matter the character
3. Not really if you use it on flesh/don't bang your head intentionally on M4 where everything is a sponge, making Corrosive Cutsman, Shock Lob and Krakatoa the best loadout to cheese through the game, especially the raid and whatnot.
If I had to look at every single piece of gear that dropped, I'd lose my mind lol.
Oh and, M4 mobs ain't sponges, OP9 mobs were sponges, M4 mobs just die slightly slower lol. Turned on M4 as soon as I could and have never turned it off. :p
There are blue shields that rival and at times are better than legendaries. And there are various purple weapons that are better than legandaries.
I would declare that as bullsh*t... sorry if that sounds offensive but seriously either you are right and they bring more Mayhems into play which reduces the current state of "You can literally combine what ever you like and make anything viable" to "You can only use these two out of bazillion guns" or you are wrong and they actually do buff weapons and / or nerf Mayhems which would kill both your newbie experience and the endgame fun...
Actually from what I've been told by many people now is that the new Mayhem levels are to compare to the OP level from BL2 which give you better weapons on higher Mayhem Tiers.
