Why are people saying the story is bad?
The Calypsos are obnoxious but they're supposed to be.

Even if you don't like them the side quests shine in so many ways.

I just completed a quest from a guy named Gonner Maleggies and it was funny as hell. I'm loving it so far.

I feel like most of the people saying "ewww Cringe" are just trying to look "above" the humor. Sometimes dumb humor can be entertaining. If you want an Oscar-Worthy RPG story there's hundreds of games out there.

BL has always had sophomoric and inane humor.

I liked the story, I liked the self-aware meme humor.

Everyone has different tastes, this game is definitely the 2chan referential game we all know and love, similar to how Steins;Gate had a bunch of 2chan references for its time.

it just doesn't seem as good of quality, the BL2 storyline was so much better, and it has way way more missions too

I don't get it either.. Out side of the two antagonists the game is great.. Ava is a child and acts like a child.. I'm honestly shocked about how many customers do not deal with 10-14 year old women these days..

Like do gamers have no children..

I also i like how FL4K knows ZERO.. He says why does he seem so Familiar when they meet.

Tina was older in BL2 you can tell Ava is smaller and had a different upbringing.. Tina was unhinged Ava was a thief for survival.

honestly from what I saw the twins sound / act like sub-plot villains

plus lets be honest, Jack shadow is long and wide...unless the main antagonist was a carbon copy of jack or played the lawful evil alignment card they were going to be terrible honestly

I honestly found jack just as crappy as the twins.. BL villains are just not top tier in any way.

I think another reason why people don't like Ava is she doesn't get punished for her mistakes that helps the main antagonists.

Also They haven't explained why Kreig WON'T kill Ava for directly causing Maya's death + there are audio logs confirming that Kreig there in the story.

Yeah Ava is a loner and been fighting for survival also been searching a family. Her rebellious nature seems normal for her age. Sadly her developmental story has been rush in the game. Ava doesn't seems really belong to Crimson raiders compared to Tiny Tina due NPC doesn't seem care for her until the end (the NPC suddenly have epiphany and suddenly welcome this character) maybe off screen lol.

When Maya dies no one tried to console her except for the new VH and CR. It will be nice like Claptrap and other NPC tried to console her but nope maybe offscreen. I understand why the hell she is angry w/ Lilith, Lilith is just a terrible leader of the Crimson Raider.

Didn’t she cause what happen to Maya?

The problem with Ava is they tried to go with the headstrong, misguided teen approach to her character arc. The problem lies in the fact that they didn't end her arc in a way that redeems her. They're most likely going to try and redeem her in DLC. Even if they do it well and some people start warming up to her, there will always be that vocal minority that'll hate her forever. First impressions are very important. What they try to do to redeem her character should have been done within the base game. It's funny though a lot of the ways people hate on Ava is as misguided as her. People saying she directly caused Maya's death are wrong. That implies that in the exact same situation minus Ava, Maya would have lived, which is also wrong. It's possible she would of lived, but the same is true even with Ava there. Best case scenario, regardless of Ava being there or not, Maya would of also just lost her powers. It's not like the vault hunters would of tried to help her and anyone who thinks Maya could of gotten out of that situation by herself are delusional. Nothing short of a deus ex machina like Tryeen just letting her live on a whim would of saved Maya.

There's nothing inherently wrong with Ava's character. I personally really like redemption arcs for characters like her. They just didn't execute it well enough given the role she had in the story. If she was less important in the main story and they made DLC that puts her in the spotlight to redeem her she wouldn't be much of an issue to most people right now.

Honestly, I thought the story wasn't to great until I got to chapters19-23ish, getting more back story on the twins helped a lot. I'd give the story a solid 7/10.
