Ava is awesome.

Perhaps for them Ava is the personification of that self confident, sassy girl who rejected their advances in college. The level of hate for a character in a game is too high. There has to be underlying issues that have nothing to do with either Ava or the game she stars in.

Ava is hated by a larger margin than she is liked, and yes Gearbox is fully aware. They left her out of the Moxxie DLC and they could have shoe horned her in if they wanted, and it doesn't look like she will be in DLC 2 either. Not sure if they took her out intentionally or if she just wasn't part of those from the start.

DLC 3 has me most intrigued as the concept art was giving off huge Western vibes.

Not as excited for the story in DLC 2 as I don't swing that way, but the enemies and stuff look cool.

Ava is...fine, just cliche. I know everyone hates her for...that, but otherwise she's pretty tolerable and inoffensive as far as the "stupid teenager who ruins everything" goes.

The writing, in its entirety, is abysmal. And Ava is only a single facet of a multifaced problem. I can't believe Borderlands 3 would make me practically reminisce over Burch's writing, but at least he understood how to pace a narrative, even if his humor/jokes lacked any restraint in regards to timing or context.

I'm gonna drop a hot take and say that TPS had a lot more soul and effort put into the writing than BL3 (there were some genuinely funny jokes in there, like having to go through 4 confirmation boxes saying "Are you sure you're sure you're sure?" when you try to pick Claptrap and blackmailing the mayor because he bought sex from a Claptrap, not to mention it somehow had MORE VH interaction than 3 overall since there was unique dialogue for each one instead of the same "hey killer!" song and dance)
