No trim slider?

I just got this game yesterday, and I've been working on a P-47 Thunderbolt, and it's coming along well. But I've noticed that the trim slider doesn't show up on the screen while flying. I've turned on trim for the elevators and done everything else I know to do, but it's not working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What I do is put a small rotator on the aircraft, set the input to trim, and make it not rotate anything or anywhere, this adds the trim slider.
