How to increase fps to 144hz?
Does anybody know how to increase the fps cap to 144hz, if it's actually possible at all? Thanks.

nvidia panel i think you can set max frame rate

That doesn't work. The engine itself sets it to 60 by default. The panel setting simply allows the user to set it to a lower setting than whatever the monitor has been set to.

go to the game folder, open up the base folder, then open the preyconfig.cfg file, search for "seta r_displayRefresh" and set it to 144.

Still doesn't work.

The game runs too fast if you remove the cap.

open the console (CTRL ALT and ~ If I don't mistake) and type com_fixedtic 1

you can add that command to Launch Options on the steam game properties
+com_fixedtic 1
this removes the in game frame limiter, you need to external limit fps since the physics is tied to the fps speed, but you can get away with a bit more, something like 75fps to 85fps feels a lot nicer that 60, you can do it on the graphics card control panel for that game, but some audio will cut off previous ones when a character speaks too many lines

Yeah I tried it at 144 fps, but the game runs too fast. Physics out of sync, lip syncing of characters mouths is all out of whack.

just to let you all know, Lossless Scaling (on Steam) added frame generation, you can now take a 60fps game and upscale the frame-rate to 120, it works extremely well, I have a 165Hz monitor, so I switched to 120Hz, uncap Prey, and limit with RTSS to 59.9 to avoid stutter, now the game runs at a butter smooth 120fps with no audio sync issues (there are some other details, but I will reply if asked)
