It's either on or off.Lift your accelerate finger to press another key and ship stops dead. That is not how a space ship should work geezus.
How can I be wrong. Can you imagine someone flying a space ship or a plane where they have to have their foot or hands constantly on an accelerator or otherwise the ship or plane stops dead.
If it's fine then why am I finding it aint working for me being left handed?I would rather my fingers be controlling flight and not having one glued down to hold an accelerate key.
I would rather use ESDF as my straf up,down and straf left ,right keys and W and R for rolling with my right hand.So that means my thumb has to be constantly holding down the accelerate key which in my case can only be Lctrl or LAlt.
Trying to roll and loop around with a constant accelerate on is just dumb. How about variable speed to allow tighter turns for example.
You may like the controls that way but I bet most players would love a choice.A choice that allows them to play to their liking.Doesn't more choice allow more people to play it like they want.
If you like it that way thats great for you but please don't decide for me how I would like it controlled.
For my part, I play this like a 6DOF (Descent-style) game in some situations, such as when maneuvering inside of/adjacent to asteroids and derelict space ships.
But the general space combat is still just that to me (more akin to X-Wing et al than Descent), and I'd like some basic throttle mechanism for that situation, rather than always feeling like I'm piloting a glorified lunar lander module -- or a space walker squirting a compressed air can trying to manuever -- squirt, squirt, squirt...
Also, people who want HOTAS support will really have no use for their fancy separate throttle stick if Everspace never gets an adjustable throttle of some sort. Even my simpler Logitech Xtreme hsa a nice throttle dial, and it wouldn't serve any use in Everspace's current build.
I suspect the dev team is frantically trying to get its next major update done for release in late October as they posted earlier. :) Hopefully they'll poke in this thread at some point and clarify the situation. Maybe I'm wrong and they never addressed the throttle idea at all.
But with all seriousness, the arcade shooter that is Everspace uses very specific 6DoF arcade controls accordingly.
If you're looking for more simulation-styled control, there is an Enhancement called Infinite Drift; it's remarkably fun to use as it essentially turns off your Inertia Dampeners AND gives you +50% damage reduction from collisions. Though, even with the reduction, it makes collisions quite painful because you will be bumping into things constantly.
I would argue this kind of movement isn't meant for this kind of game, but it's in there if you want to play around with it. And I can assure you, it can be quite fun.
