Quest controllers as gamepad?

Outside of VR, the Steam controller configurator is f-ing magic. I can make any mouse, keyboard, gamepad or HOTAS input tell the game it's really any one of the others. I can make my joystick act like a mouse. I can make my mouse act like a joystick. I can make any button press on my gamepad register as a keyboard keystroke of my choice.

I cannot find anywhere in the controller settings that will allow me to do any of this with my Oculus Quest hand controllers. WTF? Please tell me I'm just missing something plainly obvious. I just want Steam to tell Everspace that my hand controllers are actually a gamepad, and let me map the buttons so I can play this game with controls that feel natural to me.

Can anyone help?

if you are using virtual desktop make sure on the input tab you check the boxes in the upper right for proper gamepad emulation. most games work fine with just the first "Emulate gamepad" enabled but this one and subnautica I had to enable the "use touch controller as gamepad" option as well to get all the controls. (you can also add the DPAD with a key combination).

Maybe I'm being an idiot, but I can't find those options. Any chance you could post a screenshot of them?

I'm using a Quest 2 with a Xbox controller and it works for me, happy new year!
