Some questions
Firstly, viridian energy, from what i've read, isn't lost upon death. I've only managed to dig up one topic that says they capped on the stock pile; where do you actually see the amount of stock you carry?

Second, how many sectors is the game, and how many times do you expect to die? I mean it's a repeat rouge like GoF, love it, i've died about 10 times, bought two ships, bought most perks on the first ship, so i have all four ships now. I'm just not sure if i'm just dying too much. Only gotten to sector 4.

Viridian energy is capped at 80. I think you can see it near the rest of your resources. (Been a while since my last play)

There are 7 sectors. I think my first victory was in 11 runs, but that seems to be fast for most players. That was also back before they added the story to the game.

I'm not really sure what is normal for most players, but I think you're going at a good pace so far.

that's where i'm lost. Do you only see your resources during a run?
And thanks! I died like four times on sector 5 and stopped resetting, went hardcore about a dozen runs and now just play normally, thought I was dying too much. I actually killed myself because I wanted to try the big ship lol. Now that I think oon it I was packing pretty hard but at lest got some loadouts/blueprints

Yes, your resources are lost upon death, so they should only be shown during the actual run.

It might be worth trying out the other ships if you find yourself struggling to survive. Some users report noticeable improvements in their progress when they swap to a ship that just clicks for them. Just something to consider.

Yeah it's why I wanted to try the big one. No shield but works for me, however I still prefer the starting ship. Just works lol. I love the cloak, and the last one seems to be a sorta mixture, odd ship but it was fun, perk tree would need to be leveled on both but the main Interceptor is just too cool. Stock is always fun! Rockfish (Did they used to be fishlabs?) did an awesome job with this. I could play forever

Yeah, the Interceptor is my favorite as well. It's not the fastest, most durable, holds the most weapons/devices, or has the highest energy, but it has just enough in all aspects to adapt to any situation without feeling crippled in some parts.

Exactly. I love running this game with the largest ship, keep forgetting, colonial or something, but just how running head on is fun. I think this game is great because even when it's stale at some point you can come back and it's just keeping up on what you're doing prior. Love rouge likes that aren't you die and you just restart, but allow allocation of currency in that run to upgrade. I'vep layed a few where you just die and restart. Sort of arcade one shot run. No effects from the run carry over, always makes me sad that they miss that type of play, it's where you level up and get further. Think one was cortex command or something.

Just in case you never found it, Viridian Energy is listed on the far left side of your resource bar at the bottom of the screen when viewing your weapons, devices, and consumables. You can only have 80 at a time, so you'll want to spend them when you can, as the most expensive items with the Viridian merchant are 60 Energy each, with the others mostly being multiples of 10 below it. There's about 10 blueprints you can buy from him, and he can also mod weapons and devices for some as well, though that's random what he gives, so you're actually better off doing that yourself.

As for the runs, I was on 12 when I first beat it. Same as you, I couldn't seem to get far past 4, and then, while flying the Scout, I just, did it, going from 5, to 6, and finally to 7. You keep all blueprints from runs, and also the upgrades(Ancient Icons from ruins, and Subroutines from locked doors in some space junk places), so eventually you can just power through via that if you keep dying, as some of those really change the way you play, but you have to select them in the hanger before each run, so you're stuck with whatever you pick for that run.

Ah okay cool. Thanks for the info; I was wondering where to view this currency/resource. So far it's been 10 runs with three ships, so i've gotten to sector 4 on this fresh start with the interceptor, colonial, and almost 5 with the scout but honestly got blown away being greedy at the jump gate haha. I love it

Cool. Oh, and just as a warning, nothing carries over even if you beat Sector 7, only Credits, so don't horde. Find your favorite setup, and build that as soon as you can. I'd say start with weapons, then build a shied, then the other stuff.

For me, Again, as a scout.

Beam Laser, modded with range uppers, mostly for use against smaller targets and mining, as well as boxes
Beam Laser M3, modded with two range, and one power saver, my primary combat weapon.

Secondaries are Plasma Torpedoes and Arc-9000s if I can find them.

Devices
Shield MX(I think that's the one. Fast Charge, low main shield count, good for hit and run attacks), modded with shield cool down mods so it starts charging even faster.
Tractor Beam, just for pickup range.
Cloak, modded for cooldown, so it can be used repeatedly.
Either Adaptive Armor or Core Extension, for either more defense, or more energy to use for weapons and running.

Consumables
Barely used, mostly stockpile the Plasma Powered Jump, and Jump Stablizers, for either more jumps without fuel use, or for just skipping when the jump suppressor is on a frigate.

For my Upgrades I use
The one that gives full map when entering the area, but means you can't see healthbars of enemies. The disadvantage really only comes up against Corvettes.
The one that slows down jump, but has a chance to save fuel.
Beeline. This one makes missiles you fire, or are fired at you, dumb fire rockets. This alone makes the game about 90% easier, as Missiles tend to be what gets you later on, as you face bombers and missile turrets more often, let alone the sheer amount a frigate can fire at you, while also using its big kill laser.

You can store up to 80 viridian energy and can see it listed in the crafting menu at the far bottom right.

There's 7 sectors. You can expect to die a lot, but the major thing is unlocking blueprints for furture runs and increasing your ship's energy pool so you can use increasingly better equipment every run. Picking up glyphs and enhancements will allow you to do some pretty crazy stuff as well. Eventually you'll breeze right through sectors 1-4 and will start needing to plan ahead for 5 and 6 where the toughest enemies will be spawning in and your time is constrained.
