Good news is that the team made some significant modifications and put safety measures in place to avoid loss of save data. I haven't heard this happening to players for quite some time now, in fact.
Are you saying when you crashed you lost your save, recently? Posting your system specs here might help the team get a better sense of this upsetting situation.
I don't blame you that you've had it with the game, but if you still consider to give it another shot we could offer you the following: Write to support at rockfishgames . com and we'll supply you with a save game that has no progress but millions of credits when entering the hangar, so you can at least buy your perk progress back. Other than that I would advise to every now and then (maybe after each good run?) make a safety copy of your CurrentPlayerData.sav It is located at C:\Users\{YOUR_USERNAME}\AppData\Local\RSG\Saved\SaveGames
