This is old but maybe it has some answers for you
So, yeah. Bobogoobo makes a good point: We've received quite a bit of feedback regarding how Everspace would make a fun co-op experience. It would also be a tremendous amount of work to implement for an independent single-player-focused team to build.
We want to deliver an outstanding project for you guys with our next title, and we've been taking in a lot of the feedback you've provided from Everspace to do so. But we also have to make a lot of hard calls, removing ideas (even great ones) if it would hurt the experience as a whole, or sacrificing elements of our vision to bring overarching ideas to life.
A multiplayer Everspace-like game could be awesome. And we know there is a group of you who would agree, as well. We (meaning Rockfish Games) are going to put emphasis on and stand by what we know, and what we're best at. I'm not saying multiplayer isn't in our future, but I'm not saying it is, either.
Know that we're working hard on a project to be impactful, enjoyable, and one to look forward to. And that also means it might be little different than what you're expecting. Depending on what type of player you are, it could be a lot better! Or, it could be really different from what you are expecting.
We thank you for your support, your feedback, and the community you've built around Everspace. We hope you'll trust us with our decision-making process - with you in mind - as we move forward into new territory.
