I'm running this on a 2017 MacBook Pro 13" with Iris Plus 640 graphics. Not exactly a powerhouse, but more than enough to run this game. I also see the exact same problem on a 2015 MacBook 12" m3, so it's definitely some optimization issue. Given that Unreal 4 and Metal on the Mac are relatively new, I don't have any other examples just yet.
I do know that most Blizzard games were updated to support Metal and they are mega fast with no dropped frames - it's quite a treat to see their games run as well or better than my Windows computers. I'll download Unreal Tournament since thats the only other UE4 + Metal game I can think of and let you know.
I'm curious, because I don't think I want to buy the game unless performance is good in MacOS. I have Windows 10 too and could of course use that, but prefer not having to restart my computer to play.
Any ideas on where the performance problem lies? Is it graphic card drivers that has to become better for Metal and MacOS or is it more on the Unreal Engine side of things?
