Space Jellyfish?

I searched the forum last night for this and didn't find any mention of it, but: I was cruising around one of the first sectors yesterday when I noticed something "swimming" through space. When I got closer, I noticed that it was basically a plasma-blue jelly fish (right down to the "bell" contracting and expanding as it propelled itself). In all my time playing this game, I've never seen something like this--is it something that "Encounters" added?

Pretty sure it came with Encounters. All I know about them is they drop plasma when killed.

They're also part of Throngs "scan stuff for me" quest, like all creatures added with the DLC. After the quest you can continue to scan them for a few credits (works with all creatures from Throngs questline once you've finished the corresponding quest stage).

Interesting...I haven't gotten very far into the Encounters DLC material yet, so it's interesting to hear that there are other creatures added to the game. Good to know!
