Any tips of shooting down missiles?
I cant seem to reliably do it, mostly due to luck even if my cursor is aimed directly at a missile.

Beam laser or gatling. I usually keep an anti-missle drone out, though, because they're pretty tough and for whatever reason, enemies always focus fire on it before they go for me.

i find anti-missile drones are rather hard to come by, tried beam laser it seems their damage is abit low to take out missiles quickly, flak i find has the most success due to high damage and aoe, but they are so rare (unless gunship).
Out of curiosity, are you using a controller or keyboard and mouse? I remember when I first played the game with a controller, I could almost never shoot down missiles, until I switched to mouse aiming. As long as the turret/fighter that fired the missile isn't near the crosshair (because there seems to be a bit of aim assist), shooting missiles was easier for me with the mouse. Any high rate of fire (or constant fire like beam lasers) weapon should be able to take out a missile, though if you dodge the missile by getting inside its turn and boosting past it, I find that they almost never will be able to hit you if they miss on the first pass.
mouse and keyboard actually.
Hmm, I would suggest sticking to the flak cannon, then. Also, have you been searching for the Ancient ruins? There is a rune that will prevent any missile in the game from locking on to your ship (at the cost of your missiles not locking onto enemies).
btw. that might not seem very practical right now, but actually energy discharge can clear missiles and mines (very handy for mines... missiles not so much)
as a note it is an enhancement found in a derelict colonial place in normal sectors and is not a glyph from ancient ruins, you cant fire missiles but enemies cant fire them either, it is a great things to get but falls short on intense daredevil runs with equalizer and ancient weapon equipped.

Regardles, beam laser is the way to go, either level of it works depending on how quick you are.

Thanks for the correction. And it helps that the no-lockons enhancement doesn't affect the ARC-9000 or plasma torpedoes (my favorite secondaries, but that's just me).

you kind of screwed vs bombers if you use that
best thing to do is not use energy discharge, not very useful, I never tried it with the old infinite drift enhancement and daredevil, the only build that would leave you with energy after using the discharge but honestly even in hardmode daredevil unless you get jumped by intense amounts of okkar reinforcements there is no problems to be had that would require the use of that device, just use the new low profile glyph to solve that for you, if you arent quick enough to win and get out (which is possible when I play daredevil interceptor runs without an undamaged engine subsystem and without an energized boost) you can use it, but honestly, unless I try t fly out to get an item 11k out (which is an unfixed bug in plasma storm areas) I think there is too much time, point is, there are other things to use than discharger or etc.
