OTOH, I'm very intrigued by what I've seen.
So, check out YT, and ignore any trailer videos - which are never going to be representative.
I think if the game were changed to have a quicker pace it would lose its core appeal. It's like WoW when they went to a format where people could instantly be a part of an instance, without having to work to build a group. It's nice for people who didn't want to go through that hassle, which is an understandable hassle to want to avoid, but it had the consequence of making it so people had no reason to interact with the people around them.
Same kind of thing here. If the game was changed to have a quicker pace, then the satisfaction of building your relationships and connections, to get deeper missions and then try to solve them - along with acquiring the tools to do so - would end up getting lost. Just my opinion.
It's slow paced in terms of acheiving your long term goals, it takes time to invest and build relationships, extract information that you need and use those relationships to forward your ambitions. Inbetween doing that, you can trade, mine do some smaller side missions. There's actually very little time where something isn't happening in the game, mostly dialog and potentially waiting for places to open if you don't have enough money for a hotel room.
A lot of streamers and YT videos are people playing the game for the very first time. Finding your way around the interface and universe will take a little bit of initial investment, but once you have that cracked you will have plenty to explore.
During game shows, we were able to demo most of the games features in a 30 minute time window. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to give us a shout!
Or if you arrive too late to check in.
If some guy invents a bed you can put in your spaceship, he's going to make a fortune.
It'll go in very soon.
