Is this game slow paced?
I watched a review saying that the pace of this game is really slow. I'm on the fence about buying it, it seems cool but I don't want to spend loads of time just for very little progress. As reference, I have no problems with the pace of something like Kingdom, but Skyrim is a little slow for me. I like games with downtime I just don't want to spend hours doing nothing much.

If I played for an hour or two at a time would I get a lot of enjoyment out of this?

I can't get my head around Skyrim being "slow", so I'll assume you mean you like games that are constantly pushing a story forward. I've watched two Lets Play videos of this on YT (because who doesn't do that now?), both lasted about half an hour and neither really achieved much. The pace looks glacial.

OTOH, I'm very intrigued by what I've seen.

So, check out YT, and ignore any trailer videos - which are never going to be representative.
Yes, I would consider this game slow paced. I don't think it would have the same appeal if it was built to have a quicker pace. The point is the development of your relationships and connections, and that takes time.

I think if the game were changed to have a quicker pace it would lose its core appeal. It's like WoW when they went to a format where people could instantly be a part of an instance, without having to work to build a group. It's nice for people who didn't want to go through that hassle, which is an understandable hassle to want to avoid, but it had the consequence of making it so people had no reason to interact with the people around them.

Same kind of thing here. If the game was changed to have a quicker pace, then the satisfaction of building your relationships and connections, to get deeper missions and then try to solve them - along with acquiring the tools to do so - would end up getting lost. Just my opinion.
The game requires an investment of time, but you in 1-2 hour stints, you should get plenty done :)

It's slow paced in terms of acheiving your long term goals, it takes time to invest and build relationships, extract information that you need and use those relationships to forward your ambitions. Inbetween doing that, you can trade, mine do some smaller side missions. There's actually very little time where something isn't happening in the game, mostly dialog and potentially waiting for places to open if you don't have enough money for a hotel room.

A lot of streamers and YT videos are people playing the game for the very first time. Finding your way around the interface and universe will take a little bit of initial investment, but once you have that cracked you will have plenty to explore.

During game shows, we were able to demo most of the games features in a 30 minute time window. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to give us a shout!

cool, thanks for the feedback!
Hello my first playthrough (Which i ended myself) was horrible, i was disloyal to the old federation and did piracy and caused lots of trouble, also learnt that i should accept a job for a person at a time, not 10 at same time. I'm now on my new playthrough and doing good in less than an hour i nearly got enough money for buying my own ship. But i mined a little bit and take cheap pay jobs from my contacts. But yes there's some time to invest like in most space sims, but you can get a lot done in 2 hours and i have to agree with the above comments!

Or if you arrive too late to check in.

If some guy invents a bed you can put in your spaceship, he's going to make a fortune.
That was a suggestion I was going to put. Why have a cabin in your ship if you can't sleep in it? : )
Yeah sleeping in your own passenger cabin never occurred to me as a feature: crazy huh!

It'll go in very soon.
