Paladin's ship

I sneaked aboard the paladin's ship but need some tips on getting down below. I've seen a video where some guards ignore you if you keep your distance, but all I've encountered yell alert and kill me. I'm in a room at the bow of the ship and there is a door where a guard enters. Would it be better to try sneaking on a different part of the ship?

Use a speed potion(if you have one) and just overrun the pallies to the lower levels, they stop chasing you after a while. If you dont have one, try to just run past them and quickly grab the stuff from the hold. It may take you a few tries, but its definitely doable.

Also when you are a mage you can get there even in chapter 1 without making guards angry.

You have to enter the ship on the rear side. There is nothing at the bow. The few interersting things are in the cargo hold. If you keep your distance they wont get aggro even if they may look at you.

This applies to the vanilla version of the game only. If you use mods you have to ask the mod makers.

How do I jump off the ship and not drown? I always end up upside down and drown and have to restart.

Finally got on ship via a rope. The guards did ignore me and I reached the hold. Not that much in loot. I was expecting a permanent upgrade potion but got a speed potion, ring, scroll and a couple satchels. I even got off the ship without drowning since I learned how. It was fun.

There is a permanent strenght potion in the cargo hold. That's the main reason for entering the ship via alternative route before ch6. Most likely you missed it. You'll have to do it again, if you still want it of course :)

My mistake. I went back and looked. Turned out I already had it and didn't recognize it, I was looking something bigger, I guess. I did get a couple more scrolls, so it was worth the effort.
