G2 Armor Dilemma
Hey everyone,

First of all, Gothic 2 is my favourite game of all time. Played it countless times. There's something though, that's been bugging me for years and it's about acquiring the best Armor for each faction. I think it's best explained by these three quotes, that should have been in the game. Let's see if some of you can relate or even change my mind.

Pyrokar:
"you've been a mage for half a day now and have learned 2 or 3 circles of magic, but you have been very helpful! With this Robe, I bestow upon you the rank of Master Magician, instantly surpassing all your mentors."

Bennet:
"Thanks for saving my life! For that, I give you the weakest Dragon Hunter Armor. I've given my buddies medium and heavy Armor, sure, but you need to give me the scales and eggs of a mythical creature and an ancient, forgotten recipe before I sell you one of those."

Lord Hagen:
"You are hereby arrested for impersonating a Paladin Officer. We did not give you permission to wear that armor, we sent you to kill dragons in plain armor.
What? You found it lying around in an ancient chamber?
Nonsense, there isn't a speck of rust on them!"

1. It's just game logic, some novices spend months and even years in the monastery, but you can become a mage the same day you go there, at least that's slightly justified with the test of fire. As for the High Robe of Fire Pyrokar recognizes you as a chosen one, so he gives it to you just as you are about to leave for the Dragons. It's pretty reasonable still if you ask me.

I say it's more ridiculous in Gothic 1. In the span of few weeks you go from a convict to a Fire-Water-Dark Magician at once, also learning all 6th Circles of Magic, something that takes nearly a lifetime for a mage to reach.

2. I always explained myself that Bennet gives you unique armor from special materials, while all other hunters have armors from regular, weaker materials. That difference is not represented by the visuals and stats, but that's just laziness I guess?

3. I had the same thought lol. It's like a recruit suddenly wearing commander's uniform and nobody questions him. You could say that Hagen understands the importance of Main Hero so he turns a blind eye for everything he's done.

Mages and Paladins are for the noobs. That's why you get it for free.

With Mercenaries you gotta earn everything.

Lol, all three of those sounds like they come straight from Viva la Dirt's 'Epic NPC man' or maybe 'D&D logic' :reexcited:
