I say it's more ridiculous in Gothic 1. In the span of few weeks you go from a convict to a Fire-Water-Dark Magician at once, also learning all 6th Circles of Magic, something that takes nearly a lifetime for a mage to reach.
2. I always explained myself that Bennet gives you unique armor from special materials, while all other hunters have armors from regular, weaker materials. That difference is not represented by the visuals and stats, but that's just laziness I guess?
3. I had the same thought lol. It's like a recruit suddenly wearing commander's uniform and nobody questions him. You could say that Hagen understands the importance of Main Hero so he turns a blind eye for everything he's done.
With Mercenaries you gotta earn everything.
