L'Hiver mod is pretty fun who else plays with it?

Tiss my first real playthrough of this game. I played the game as a child and young teen, but never got to chapter 2. I like how I dont have to just wait till end game to get the best use of bonus stat potions, since the bonus stats dont effect the leveling skill LP. But it just makes it a lot harder which I enjoy. Since it forces you to kinda explore more which I would have done either way. But if I did that with the base game, I feel as if it would have gotten fairly easy too fast.

The reason I quit gothic 1 and just watched the story on it, after chapter 2 or 3. Is due to how brain dead easy it got as a melee warrior. And the fact it was just running from one side of the map to the other and repeat, and there was no mobs to kill half the time lol. Which Gothic 2 kinda reduced that by a lot.

im hardly into chapter 2 right now after 38 hours in game time. And im just doing the raven expansion I think, since I couldnt really progress too much in the main game, as there wasnt any quest I could find to help level more so I get rekt by orcs. Im probably only half way done with the raven expansion if that.

Anyways, I've died many times in L'hiver. But the progression feels far more rewarding. And I like how im not flooded with gold.

EDIT: I just got to the RAVEN boss. Anyone who is thinking of downloading this mod I say 100% do so. But just keep in mind, if you do Raven expansion right after you get to chapter 2 you have will a super hard time trying to end Raven. I recommend just doing all the quest you can there, then leaving the island to progress the main game. Come back when youre a lot stronger.

Just a tip for when you have to beat main bosses. I found this out after trying to beat Raven(back to CH2 of the main game :^)). You really need to prep for it, that means just to kill raven you might have to play a lot more of the game then come back to kill him. So be prepared for that. This mod is 100% worth downloading and so much more rewarding to do things.

Started a few days ago with the L'Hiver Mod (normal not Hardcore). Just arrived today in Jharkendar after about 12 Hours ingame Time.

World looks amazing in this mod - they have edited a lot and also added new parts which were not in the vanilla game. I like it. Hope you are using DirectX11- Renderer, it makes the game look even better (adds Weather effects, adds sunbeams, etc)

Yes, there is a normal version of the mod - this version you can set to Hardcore. But the difficulty of the real Hardcore Edition is even higher. I fyou want to fight Lurkers with 5000 Health - go for it :D I stay with the normal Edition on Night of the Raven-difficulty :D

There was no difficulty when I downloaded it. Im on 1.6 or something. :shrugs: I think it is good where it is at for me. Its hard, but not have 1 lurker take 100 hits hard.

I downloaded this on steam like 4 months ago xD. Ive just been playing slowly. BUT im not going to update just incase something breaks.

Its possible that it is also due to a different language that you have a different version number. I play the german version :D Its a bit confusing with the LHiver Mod - it seems there a few different ones.

Prolly is also due to nexus mods as well. I dont think a lot of gothic 2 mods are up to date on nexus for some reason lol.

If you are searching for Gothic Mods the best source is still the WorldofGothic Website. I think they have also the english version of some mods there. I am afraid you have to google for the link - Steam will probably delete the link.

Should only be a hint ;) There are a lot mods available that tell a complete new story. A story that has nothing to do with Gothics original story. But I think most of them are not translated to english.

I know, Ive checked out the site when I downloaded gothic 1 mods xD.
Usually I dont download story mods like that. Im only aiming to beat all the gothic games right now. So im moving onto gothic 3 right after this. Then I might play the risen games as ive never really played those.

And yeah gothic 2 polish/russian/german fan base is massive compared to the USA's lmao Das ist gut :^)

Yeah its a german developer - so it was originally developed in german language. The voice over is really great - especially if you think how old those games are already.

And yes I agree I finished Gothic 1 with a mod recently and I am now playing G2 with LHiver Mod. Maybe when I finsih it I will also go on to Gothic 3 - funny thing: G1 and G2 I finished a lot of times - but Gothic 3? Never completed this one :D

I didnt finish 1, tiss was too brain dead easy as a warrior and if it was made harder, well the mechanics are too basic for it to really take much skill as a warrior. So harder would have just been a flat out stat check, which it already was xD.

Im excited for gothic 3 due to the world. I know the faction system is cool and how the world reacts to what you do.
I love elex. One of my favorite rpg series so far lmao. I like all PB games.
To me elex feels like a space gothic. Just updated. All be it, still dated from the moment they launched lmao. They have good writing and questing still. voice acting is obviously better for english at least.

It is just more main streamed I guess. Tbh the 1 issue I have with PB, is that they make the same type of game over and over lol. But with a twist on it.

I don't like the modern "space" style of Elex. I prefer the old style of Gothic and Risen.
But yeah PB make great games - but they are always very buggy after release :D

For Gothic 3 you should use the Community Patch.
