Issue with Canthar

I accepted a letter of recommendation from Canthar to gain access to the city. Although I eventually got in by a different method, that’s not the issue here. I ran into him later at the market, and he gave me another letter, this time to frame Sara. I took it, warned Sara about his intentions, and then had him arrested. Afterwards, I went straight to the dungeon and killed him to make sure he wouldn’t cause any more trouble.

A few days later, I returned to the market, only to find that the merchants refuse to speak with me, preventing me from completing two quests: Bandit raids & Alrik’s Sword.

How am I supposed to convince them to let me finish the tasks now? Canthar is dead, Sara is nowhere to be found, and I have no idea what to do next.

I also encountered an issue with the Thieves’ Guild and Cassia.

I got the key to the sewers before picking my profession and agreed to join the guild when she offered. She gave me two tasks: finding Constantino’s ring and collecting the Blood Chalices. I finished the first task right away, learned a skill or two from her, and then started working on the second one.

It took me a few days to access the town hall, but when I returned, she suddenly said time was up and attacked me. What time limit? There was no warning or dialogue about it, so it’s clearly a game bug. Luckily, I had a Forget spell and managed to complete the quest.

There is a bug in the game where Cassia attacks the hero the next day after accepting one of her contracts.

What about Canthar, franc? Is there any workaround to complete these quests when the merchants don't want to talk to me at all?

Well you shouldn try to solve quests in a way that wasnt intended by the devs. You put him in jail and thats where he is supposed to be until chapter 3.
My advice to you - Dont try to do stuff like that with other quests.

Cassia usually attacks you if you dont bring her Constantinos Ring in the time frame she gave you. I think its 2 days or so. This is afair the only quest in the game that has a real time limit.

Well you murdered someone in a prison cell and then you compain about you cannot solve his quest anymore. What did you think would happen? And btw the quest is just a money to XP converter. You get XP for paying the money afair.

Its a simple question you should ask yourself I learned from a former prominent youtuber: If there were a button where you can simply transfer 500 gold for 100 XP would you press such a button. Well I would as often as I can. And the Canthar quest is indeed just such a button.

He whispered something about my likeness being circulated around the city on a wanted poster, and that was it. Damn, I took too big a risk. I read that he could be thrown in jail and then killed without any consequences, since he planned to reveal the information about me only after being released - in chapter 3 - and now this mess.

It's a old game, everything gets so easily broken, I always play cautiously old Gothic games.
