Valley of the Mines OST not playing
Just entered Valley of the Mines in Chapter 2 after finishing up the DLC. The problem is simple: the soundtrack for the Valley just doesn't play. Any way to fix that?

Well if you have never been to the valley of mines then you can just go there and save. Then you take your new installation game where the music works and just enter the valley of mine and save that too.

Now you have 2 saves: one where you have never been to the valley of mines and the music works and one where it doesnt work.

You just switch the oldworld part of the 2 save game files. As I stated the save game is not 1 file but several files. It should contain a part called oldworld or something. Its a long time since I did this last time so I dont remember exactly how the valley of mine is called in the save game but I guess its oldworld or something.

The music in Gothic needs a trigger to play. Sometimes it helps when you deactivate and reactivate the music in the options.

Well, of course it does. Such as entering the area. So I'd fully expect the music to play without any issues when entering the Valley. Unfortunately, turning the music off and back on again didn't help.

It seems I have found the problem. For some reason, the Oldworld folder is completely missing from Data/Music. Now I just need somebody to upload that folder somewhere so I can download it lol

There is no Oldworld folder in _work/data/music. At least not without mods

In this case how is the soundtrack supposed to play in the Valley? As I presume the sgt files are not located within the newworld folder, are they? If that's the case, then I have no clue as to why the music isn't playing when inside the Valley.

Check the integrity of the local files - if something is missing steam will download it.

I have done just that; still nothing. Through some digging, I found that the oldworld music is a file called OWD_DayStd.sgt. This file is indeed located in the newworld folder, so the file itself definitely isn't missing. I am at a complete loss at the moment.

Just searched for you on the german discussion board at World of Gothic - only found this issue in combination with LHiver Mod installed. Have you by any chance installed any mods?

Hey thanks for looking that up for me. I really appreciate it.

And no, I don't have any mods installed at all, only the System and Player Packs required to run the game on Windows 10. As a matter of fact, I just uninstalled the game (and manually emptied the game directory just in-case of any leftover files) and installed it again fresh. Booted up my latest save, same issue. It's not entirely a game breaking issue or anything, but it certainly takes away from the overall experience.

You only need to download the default steam version - no need to install PlayerKit or something they are already installed. The only thing you will need to run properly on 10/11 is Union and maybe if you want the Dx11 Renderer.

I already have union and the renderer installed from the workshop but it seems they don't work for me anyways. The issue is still not fixed but I appreciate you trying to help anyways.

OK I cant talk about the workshop beta as I dont use it. I install my mods the old fashioned way :D If you have activated the Beta you should get a different mod launcher on startup?

Yeah, that's right. I just completely forgot about switching the Beta version lol. But regardless of whether I run the game in the Workshop Beta version or the default Steam version, still no Valley soundtrack upon entry. It's really starting to annoy me, especially since there's seemingly no solution to this.

I guess you have tried to save and load the savegame?

Of course. I tried turning the music off and back on, exiting the Valley into the Khorinis Passage (Mine entrance) and back; nothing. Weird thing is that when I exit the Valley and enter Khorinis again, the normal soundtrack for that area plays. But as soon as I enter the Valley again, dead silence aside from ambience.
