Ever heard of key remapping? You do this in Settings and change Q+E to e.g. A+D and the other way around
Also from you description I dont get whats wrong. You can play this game with mouse and WASD easily. Many people prefer Keyboard only but there is no reason not play with WASD+mouse. In fact Mouse+WASD makes looking around a lot easier. You can zoom in and out with the mouse wheel and look whats on house roofs or on temple roofs without having to climb up. And you technically can walk in this game and it prevents you from falling down somewhere but standard is running. Maybe you have caps lock activated so your hero just walks because Shift rspt. Caps Lock make the hero walk instead of run.
Also it could just be your mouse sensitivity is too low so turning feels slow. Of course - just like in mostly all other games - you can change that in the settings.
