Gothic II: Gold Classic

Gothic II: Gold Classic

Major problem with community patch 2.10
Hi guys, I already completed the game multiple times on my old gaming rig and decided to buy it in steam when it was on sale. I figured out the game is not working in the current steam status, so I installed the latest Ironkeeper 2.10 community patch. The game starts, it works perfectly fine, but as soon as I checked some traders and sellers, I got scared to death: They are offering me weapons, which do the same amount of damage than strengh is need for this weapon. For example: A sword: 100damage, 100strengh required. This is absurd, since I am at the very beginning and did saw another trader offering a healing spell, which needs, according to the item 400mana to execute it. What is happening here, I can't continue playing if this persists.
I even reinstalled the game and only pasted the GothicII.exe of the mod into the game directory and it is still working fine, but the items with their insane attributes are still not vanished.

Anybody did experience the same?

Did you also deleted the files in the installation folder?
I don't know about the Ironkeep patch but it's possible there were some leftover files from the patch that weren't removed.

Also check your programs list and see if it's on there.
Some patches/mods need to be uninstalled seperately.

Yeah I deleted everything and did install the mod properly before.

All I can suggest then for now is to try it without the mod and see what that gives you, and instead try the modloader.
It's an alternate fix for the problem with the game not launching, instead of using the Ironkeep patch.

Downgrade the game's version using this patch. This only affects the splash screen at startup.

Now download the GothicStarter and extract it into your installation folder.
You use the file named GothicStarter.exe to start the game,

Also my apoligies if I misunderstood part of your posts. Kinda tired.

I installed the stuff you provided, game is running fine, but the merchants still have those weird item stats.

A spiked club 90damage, 90 strengh
A spell, storm or smth. costs 1000Mana !!!

This is ridiculous, how can this be bugged? I did try your patches, the Ironkeeper,...
I mean I cannot be the only one with this, all I did was downloading the game from steam and installing the patches, properly!

Odd...In the two years I've been roaming this board I've never heard of anything like this.
My instinct still says it has something to do with the Ironkeep patch but I can't say for sure.

I'll see if I can find anything about it tomorrow, or possibly recreate the problem.

Maybe you can find some more information at the German World of Gothic forum.
It's more active and you might get an answer there. The link goes directly to the appropriate help forum.

This is indeed odd, I checked the maximum amount of mana you can have, but this simple spell is already far beyond it, so it must be a bug. Either it is just a displayed bug, then it wouldn't matter or it is a real one and I wouldn't be able to use lots of items, since there are still items which seem to have normal properties. The major problem is, that I can't run the steam version only without either the patch or the ModKit. But on both of them I get the same problem.
Ok, so I completely reinstalled my windows and installed Gothic II with just the patch and the launcher in post #3. After starting the game I used the marvin-cheat to be able to fast travel to the city to check out the traders stuff: Still there are wepons which deal 125 damage but also require 125 strengh. If I remember correctly the maximum amount of strengh you can gain without potions or herbage is 100. Is this really a bug or was it always like this?
Well, I just checked a list with some weapons: Weaponlist[www.worldofgothic.de] and actually this looks like it was intended to set the strengh close to the damage in some cases. This isn't a bug as I expected it to be.
