What happened to Diego's voice?

I finally reunited with my old buddy but he now has the vice of a generic NPC, what happened?

In many language versions there are different voice actors for characters in Gothic 1 and Gothic 2. Some voice actors just didn't continue work on dubbing after Gothic 1. If he sounds like some other NPCs it's becasue voice actors were dubbing several NPCs.

In some versions 1 character can have 2 voice actors because Night of the Raven addon adds new voice lines and not every actor worked on Gothic 2 vanilla and Night of the Raven.
