Gothic 2, loading and saving crash fixes ! Vanilla or HIGH performance mods.

This will be useful for playing Gothic II classic, vanilla or mods.

FIX, copy GD3D11 (https://github.com/kirides -Kirides, Github) to Gothic II/System.

GD3D11: amazing graphics., F11 & Ctrl F11 for popup settings ingame anytime.

Apply Large Address Aware to Gothic2.exe and VDFS32G.EXE

Applied it the GothicStarter.exe and GothicStarter_mod.exe for luck, too.

------- Played *high* graphic demand mods:

--- Archolos, no problems at all.

--- Odyssey (new lands, hero, story, amazing huge game, a favorite) :

Only crashed in a *very* few world changes:
Save before world changes (basically only when going to the ship Albatross).
F11: take note of 5 settings, lower High to Potato, etc, to totally blurry.
Change world with no problems, F11, settings back to usual.


--- Legend of Ahssun (total conversion, very good):

**constant feasome unexpected crashings in savings**, losing progress.

Mouse right button on Gothic2.exe, tick NO FULLSCREEN OPTIMIZATIONS or somesuch in
the Compatibility Tab.

Also GD3D11, F11:
Texture Quality barest High (just passing Medium)
Object draw distance 30
Small object draw distance 10
VisualFX draw distance 8
World draw distance 4

F11 UNTICK:
- ENABLE SMAA,
- ENABLE HBAO+
- ENABLE GODRAYS,
- Framerate limit: 59 my personal option

CTRL F11, UNTICK:
- DRAW FOG,
- ENABLE BLUR,

IF ONLY CTRL F11, THEN F11 TO CLICK APPLY !!!!!

Result: Never had 1 saving crash again !

The save crashes are just a minor problem.

But the disappearing monsters and NPCs which can happen very rarely is a major one. And until this is really solved you always have the chance your whole game is gone because you dont recognize it instantly. And its degrading over time. More and more monsters and NPCs disappear from you game world without any chance of fixing it. The only way to deal with it is to reload to a save where the bug didnt happen yet.

It happens with the old renderer and the new one and no one knows why. They claimed this was fixed with the new renderer but its still happening and it happened to some people on twitch while streaming and I watched it live.

So until this is fixed always make an extra save every few hours in a different slot so you can revert back if this bug happens to you.

Thanks, I finished Gothic 2 NotR, Odyssey, now playing Legends of Ahssun.
Never noticed any dissapearing at all.

I play with these
1. Install Gothic II DNdR as adminstator; If possible not under Program Files (x86), rather e. g. C:\Games\Gothic II
2. Install Reportversion 2.6.0.0 as administrator
3. Install Playerkit 2.6f as administrator
4. Install Systempack / Union
5. GD3D11 github.com/kirides to Gothic II / System
6. Apply Large Address Aware to the .exes in Gothic II / System

It's not working for me. I load the game and it hangs on the loading screen, though I can hear the background sounds. And it happens every time. I've tried everything, including your suggestions.

Try to install this modification. But firstly change your BETA version of the game to "workshop"

Above: This is the way.

Union 1.0m already includes System Pack 2.0 !

So, uninstall Gothic 2 that gave you problems, delete the folder.
Install "Gothic II: Gold Classic [workshop]"
In your Steam Library, Gothic II screen, click on "Workshop", find "Union", Subscribe, automatically it will load and install after a little while.

Run "Steam Workshop Launcher", you should get to have in this order (can reorder with mouse drag)
- Gothic 2: Gold Edition
- Union - patch for Gothic 2

- Union Advanced Inventory (this one is optional but a *very* good QOL)
