How to kill a troll

I read that they are easy to kill but when I try to get behind one, he turns so fast that I can't keep up much less hit him. Is the steam version any harder than Gothic 2 Gold NOTR? Is it no longer easy to get behind and hit him? Any tips welcome

I don't use mods, so that is not the problem.

For those people who doesn't want to use "kill" in marvin:
Use "spawn troll" next to your target, focus it, use "O" button and make epic battle with two uglymotherf**kers
Or you can create a meatbug and use "kill". Technicly it will means that meatbug stronger than troll.

I would just run around the troll and hit him when i feel its the right time... its boring, long, but doing that - its not that hard to kill.

I just summon some skeletons - they're surprisingly good at taking down a troll with their 2-handed swords.

except there's like 2 of those in the game before ch6, and there's at least 3 trolls as soon as ch1.

Yes, those scrolls are so scarce that they are better used elsewhere,

It works. I did it twice in my last 2 runs. Maybe it does not work on every but it works on ice dragon for sure.

Funny thing, there is this scroll in the last hall in Irdorath. Just before final boss. I didn't even bother to check if it works on him because if it worked that would be really questionable game designe. I think devs added scroll there to make players think that they will use it on final boss.

If memory serves correctly, it USED to work on the final boss in vanilla.
Not anymore with NotR.

Yes, same with the destroy undead scroll. Thats probably why I thought it doesn't work on all dragons.
