raised. Take some swings as he’s turning. Just before he’s finished
turning, strafe left/right again between his arm and body, go behind his back again and take some more hits while he turns. You can usually get 2-3 hits in before you need to run around him. I'd stick to only 2 swings while at his back side, especialy if its your first attempt killing it, because if you take a hit, would be difficult to get back in position. Rinse and repeat. It takes some time, but it is rather easy.
If you are a mage you can summon goblins to kill him fast and easy, since the troll is slow and your goblins are so fast :)
"Being good at" is the same as cheesing according to you. You call it 'strategies' but cheesing is not a strategy. Again, to each his own. And no, the developers definitely did NOT want players to be able to kill anything with a stick. This isn't a level-scaling RPG like e.g. Oblivion. Just because you can exploit the game mechanics doesn't mean the developers meant for you to cheese through the game. If you want objective proof, look at their other 6 games where they apparently forgot to insert the 'strategy' to cheese through the entire game with a stick.
I couldn't care less if people award me Steam points for being funny. I'll take them. And I'll be glad I made at least one person laugh, which is a difficult thing to do in these times.
There is many things they didn't mean to make, like:
-Paying less learning points when you learn something from 29 to 34 / 59 to 64 etc
-Selling troll's skin to Raul then take him down and sell it to Bosper
-Getting more exp at the beginning when you tell first bandit about farmers and then talk to him again and tell about Cavalorn
There is a lot of more of the situations developers didn't want to make like that and what? Now they are part of the game. We have different meaning of word "cheesing". For me fighting with enemies like troll without getting any damage becasue you know his behaviour/animations isn't cheesing. What would be cheesing is this battle ram in Valley where you can lure orcs and they will not attack you. In other games like dark souls people can beat game naked with also some stick. They do that because they know animations and behaviour of enemies. But gothic is old so animations are not smooth and great so becasue of that you say it's cheesing.
Trolls in clear steam version pretty easy to kill, and their turning speed is low, however there are a lot of mods which change trolls' stats to make them more dangerous (for example trolls from Archolos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oN9NHyt-AKM ). Make sure you don't use any mods (some of them change enemies animation, although they shouldn't) which make so.
If you want to kill troll on current version you should attack him until his hand moving up, and when he ready to strike use jump back (it is much easier with onehander).
That's what I've been saying but they want to cheat without a cheat code, so they feel better about cheating. Or something like that.
Using the game's mechanics is cheating now. ok.
Why would the devs add blocking and i-frames to the backstep animation if using them is cheating ?
Sounds like you're just bad at the game.
